Divinity: Original Sin - for the people who want fairly free form RPGs.

Maybe it's just a matter of personal taste, but I couldn't get into Divinity: Original Sin despite being a huge fan of games like Baldur's Gate and Arcanum. I couldn't get interested in the world or story and wasn't having fun with the combat.

I will say, I played it all co-op so the world and story didn't matter as much. It has a unique character about the world similar to like a Fable, so its a nice compliment to two people playing the game, but not necessarily paying the closest attention, but the story probably wasnt great.

How far did you get into the game? It's pretty bad early on since you don't have much powers, but the freedom of the game to build any type of character you want is really nice. You can make a melee tank does uses fire magic, etc.

I would definitely recommend this game co-op with someone who you can cooperate with.

I played it alone and only played for maybe 5 hours. I kept having to run around talking to every single person in town trying to figure out where to go next in my quests, and combat was brutal after I left the town. I can't remember how I built my character, but I kind of had the feeling that I did a bad job of it.

The beginning is definitely the hardest part about the game. It's just so damn open and has close to zero direction. Supposedly you can beat the game by just killing everything you see (that you can kill). You really have to get into the mindset of "I just need to figure it out myself". Even then, we had to look up some quests because we got stuck.

But when we figured out the way we wanted to play, it became really fun.

1. Total War: Warhammer:
Mixes Warhammer, Civilization, Real time full army battles into an awesome game. One of the main gripes in most of the other Total War games is that the factions play too much alike. This is the first entry where none of the factions feel the same. There is also a fairly robust modding community. My favorite Total War since the original Rome.

2. Mount and Blade Warband:
Its going to look pretty aged by now and the AI can feel pretty dumb but this is one of the most addicting fun games I ever played. You command an army on a top down map where you recruit troops, trade, join other factions, or make allegiances.

The battles are done in 3rd or 1st person view where you are actually fighting along side your troops. It actually feels like your in a battle. Awesome awesome game. There is also a robust modding community that has done mods for Lord of the Rings, Viking Age, Game of Thrones, and other fairly fun mods. I strongly suggest checking it out.

3. Doom:
What can I say other than its that same old awesome Doom with 16-17 graphics. The multiplayer is highly addicting and fun and the single player is much better than most FPS games now a days.

4. Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen:
Awesome action RPG that holds up pretty well now. It has a deep character class system/pawn system (look it up) with awesome boss battles.

One of my favorite RPGs of all time.

Man that's a great game. Most of the sequel is great too. From time to time when someone mentions it, I always have to play it again.

The melee combat is brutal and satisfying and the atmosphere is intense.

Life is strange - a game in the mould of many Telltale games, but with a bit more gameplay. Entirely story and character driven. The first chapter is pretty cringe worthy, but it quickly settles down and becomes something great.

Very good one. Most people will never play this game but it is so damn awesome. It released at the same time as NIOH and Horizon from what I remember so most people probably didn't get a chance to buy it.

I'd say any of the Assassins creed games, even unity. People focus on glitches in these games but ignore the actual content which is pretty significant. Then the same people ignore the glitches in games like skyrim and fallout 4. Pretty sure fallout 4 had a game breaking glitch if you went to Monsignor plaza or something like that lol

Jade Empire. People generally talk about every other Bioware game, but this is a great one as well! This is also my monthly advertisement for this game in hopes of Bioware making a 2nd one...

Sleeping Dogs. I don't know how underrated it is because I think most people who play it really enjoy it, but not too many people know about it. Great sandbox game with a fantastic story and combat.

Not at the exact same time, but a couple weeks after HZD.

But yeah, this game's amazing.

The only real problem with Warband is that it just feels so dated (because it is) but Mount and Blade 2 is suppose to be coming out sometime this year so hopefully that will help that problem if they can pull off a solid new entry.
