I don't remember where I said it, but I have been saying it for a while, In wanted Dallas to take another shot a getting a late rd QB. Kaaya would have been perfect pick. Would have loved trading all our 7th rders for him. _________________ it's not the SKILL of a man, but the WILL of a man. |

Dallas seems to have a lot of faith in this kid. Hope it pays off, because they aren't going to see many opportunities like the ones this draft had at TE.
Also not sure if anyone posted this but is worth posting again...

Taco, Awuzie, Lewis, Switzer, and Woods. Amazing. _________________

But a LOT can change between now and Week 1. Awuzie and Woods offer so much playmaking and versatility, I'd be surprised to not see one or both of them in dime packages. And I don't think they guaranteed Nolan Carroll $4M to sit on the bench or get cut, although it's possible that White beats him out and they don't wanna carry 6 CBs
We're gonna see a ton of different looks this year |
The ability to interchange multiple DBs and give different looks could be huge.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Carroll get cut or Scandrick traded. Hard to believe we drafted Awuzie to only see limited snaps in the Dime package. |

Yeah I didn't mean to suggest that Awuzie would just be a backup who hardly plays, he's just so versatile I didn't even know what to do with him. Schematically, I think we'll use him similarly to how Green Bay used Micah Hyde.
Honestly, I probably shouldn't have even given Lewis the starting slot nod, it should probably go to Scandrick with Carroll on the outside. I doubt they give anything to a rookie without letting him prove it in camp and preseason. But make no mistake, Awuzie and Lewis will both see the field plenty this year.
FWIW, if the Giants play a base 3-wide set with Engram at TE, which seems to be the plan, I think we would play more than a fair amount of dime to counter that. _________________

Are we sure that McClay and Plan are not one in the same? BPA, no secondary in the first round, Dline in the first round, and Michigan guys to boot? |

I've met McClay, he is way too nice to be Plan. _________________

Assuming no bust:
LB, RT, TE
Everyone else is a young pup. _________________

Another thing to keep in mind are our 2018 free agents:
Kellen Moore QB
Darren McFadden RB
Alfred Morris RB
Brice Butler WR
Emmett Cleary OT
Byron Bell OT
Jonathan Cooper G
Joe Looney G
Stephen Paea DE
DeMarcus Lawrence DE
Kyle Wilber OLB
Anthony Hitchens LB
Leon McFadden CB
Chris Jones P
L.P. Ladouceur LS
We'll definitely need a RB (would be nice to have Darius Jackson right about now ), OL depth is taking a big hit with 4 free agents, a couple of DL and LB are also set to hit free agency.
If I had to draft by round I would say
1st round: TE/SLB
2nd round: SLB/TE
3rd round: DT
4th round: OL
5th round: RB
6th round: OL
7th round: DL/OL
All those comp picks are going to be awesome next year. _________________

SLB is a <500 snap player. No way do the Cowboys spend a premium pick on a linebacker that isn't Sean Lee's replacement. |

hmmmm.. Maybe. Depends on the player. SLB play almost as much as a DE due to rotations. I could see a 2nd or 3rd round pick on one. A guy who could be the #2 MLB and the #1 Sam. _________________

You wouldn't spend a 1st on Anthony Barr, Vic Beasley or Leonard Floyd? _________________

All would be RDEs in our scheme. Floyd specifically was nearly drafted by us for that purpose. |

We play nickle like ~50%+ of the time; so the SLB position is the least utilized. Maybe that was due to our roster, but probably not. Its one of the reasons Peppers was so interesting to me - a S/LB combo.
That said, if we had a 'Barr' I would assume we would change the defensive philosophy to accommodate. I seem to remember the Bears using base much more than we do when Rod M coached there.
So yeah, Id give a 1 for a rookie 'Barr'. _________________
