You should really study up on Tyus Bowser. He is a better prospect then a lot of those DEs.

Tyus Bowser

6'3" 250 lbs. with a 37.5 inch vert and 4.65 forty.

8.5 sacks in 8 games
Quote:
He overcame that setback to still garner second-team all-conference honors, leading the team with 8.5 sacks among his 12 tackles for loss in just eight games.

Quote:
STRENGTHS Explosive, quick-twitch athlete. Bursts out of his stance and challenges the edge. Good shoulder turn at the edge of rush and can dip and corner with very tight radius. Showed ability to play in variety of spots. Crisp change of direction ability. Took to his coaching and showed drastic improvement against the run this year. Played two years of college basketball at Houston which shows up with his footwork and fluidity when dropping into space. Has ability to pattern match tight ends. Light is starting to come on for him. Should have a big day at the combine.

Quote:
"He's got all the athletic traits and explosiveness and none of the consistency of production you want. I still think you are kind of gambling on him if you take him too high but it's going to be really hard to pass on the athlete after what he's done this postseason." -- NFL general manager

Quote:
BOTTOM LINE Ascending pass-rush prospect who is still learning the fundamentals of his position thanks to a late commitment to the sport. Bowser's movement ability in space creates interesting possibilities for teams looking for a twitched-up toy to play with. Bowser lacks production, but his explosive characteristics off the edge will push him up the draft board and give him a chance to play well above where some scouts might project him

Anyone pushing for a DE should be very happy if Bowser comes off the board at 28.

Top pass rusher available is who I want provided it is appropriate value for our slot. Excluding Garrett, Barnett, and Thomas,I like (in this order):

Taco Charlton
Charles Harris
Takkarist McKinley
TJ Watt

I like Bowser, but think late first is a little early. I'd be OK with him if we traded back.

I have said a couple of times how much I like Obi, so I would be thrilled with him. Value wise, I put him around where Harris and McKinley are.

I feel the dropoff at pass rusher and S is enough that I wouldn't consider anyone else in our current spot. As far as corners go, I would not bother considering one given the absurd depth unless someone big falls. I don't really have any other realistic targets I would like for Round 1.

Mcdowell DT/DE from Michigan State will be the pick, if he is there. He is scheme versatile and dominant at times. If not I think Bowser could be the pick.

Yeah IMO anyone who says TE in the first 2 rounds needs to explain themselves. Did we not learn from Anthony Fasano, Martellus Bennett or Gavin Escobar? The #2 TE in this offense is a glorified extra offensive lineman.

All those guys have proven/will prove to be capable tight ends, but they did nothing here. Until Witten retires, or is on his last legs, the earliest I go TE is the 3rd round.

And besides, we have James Hanna, Geoff Swaim and Rico Gathers as depth. They can be my TE2-TE4 for now.

I will post TY's Unusual Mock 2.0 here since I waited so late.

The draft goes like this:

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett DE/OLB Texas A&M
2. San Francisco 49ers: Jonathan Allen DT Alabama
3. Chicago Bears: Solomon Thomas DE Stanford
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette RB LSU
5. Tennessee Titans (Via LA Rams): Jamal Adams S LSU
6. New York Jets: Mitch Trubisky QB North Carolina
7. Los Angeles Chargers: Malik Hooker S Ohio State
8. Carolina Panthers: Marshon Lattimore CB Ohio State
9. Cincinnati Bengals: Reuben Foster LB Alabama
10. Buffalo Bills: O.J. Howard TE Alabama
11. New Orleans Saints: Derek Barnett DE Tennessee
12. Cleveland Browns (via PHI): Corey Davis WR Western Michigan
13. Arizona Cardinals: Marlon Humphrey CB Alabama
14. Philadelphia Eagles (via MIN): Christian McCaffrey RB Stanford
15. Indianapolis Colts: Taco Charlton DE Michigan
16. Baltimore Ravens: Hassan Reddick LB Temple
17. Washington Redskins: Zach Cunningham LB Vanderbilt
18. Tennessee Titans: Kevin King CB Washington
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dalvin Cook RB Florida St
20. Denver Broncos: John Ross WR Washington
21. Detroit Lions: David Njoku TE Miami
22. Miami Dolphins: TJ Watt OLB Wisconsin
23. New York Giants: Garrett Bolles OT Utah
24. Oakland Raiders: Adoree Jackson CB USC
25. Houston Texans: Pat Mahomes QB Texas Tech
26. Seattle Seahawks: Obi Melifonwu S Conn.
27. Kansas City Chiefs: Zay Jones WR ECU

With the 28th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Tyus Bowser LB, Houston

A bit of a reach but Dallas gets their pass rush specialist. Will play the SAM and rush on 3rd downs to start with. Should really help with the defense's ability to get to the QB.

2nd round pick: Josh Jones S, NC State

Great size, speed and toughness for the position. Should step in Day One as a replacement for Church.

3rd round: Gareon Conley CB, Ohio State- Boom or bust pick right here. Conley falls strictly because of off field concerns. Jerry sees Conley still on the board and chooses to snatch him up.

4th round: Roderick Johnson OT Florida State - Has the potential to be a starting RT for Dallas.

6th round: T.J. Logan RB North Carolina - Lightning fast RB who can excel in the Lance Dunbar role and can provide a spark to special teams.

7th round: Fred Ross WR Miss State- Depth guy who can come in and compete at WR.
