The issue in my mind is whether Thomas can be a 3-4 OLB in our base defense.

He'll be more than fine as an end in our nickel package, but I think he's far too small to be an NFL 3-4 DE.

I think he'll move around, but he's too small to be a full-time 5T, as you mentioned.

I think in base he'll play on his feet and be primarily a pass rusher. I think in sub (which we play about 60-70% of the time) he will be a 3T or even kick over to DE. Versatile kid, high motor, great character, I'd be thrilled to get him at 3.

McPhee isn't getting any younger/healthier, and I think Houston and Young are on the way out after this season.

If Pace is tied to Glennon (in that he has him pegged as his QB of the future and not just a bridge guy) then I'm almost hoping that he takes OJ Howard at three. I know thats ridiculously early for a TE (usually), but I really like Howard and think he'd be a big help to this offense early on.

It's no more ridiculous than taking a safety at #3.

In fact Michael Lombardi has said that OJ Howard should be a top-5 pick.

I wouldn't mind it one bit.

I'm starting to feel like Glennon is Fox's last ditch attempt to build this team in his image. I think Pace might tell him fine, we'll go BPA all the way through, and we'll build up this defense and add another quality RB. But if this isn't a 9-10 win team or we don't make the playoffs, you're a goner.

That would allow our next head coach to assess Glennon and look at FA (Cousins, Garoppolo, etc) as well as the draft for the QB of the future.

(No, I don't like that one bit, but it makes sense)

Howard is damn good. And even though I think Thomas is a better player, I wonder if Howard wouldn't have a bigger impact on this Bears team.

I think Thomas is plenty athletic to play OLB in the Bears' base defense and his skill-set compliments Floyd well. He can set the edge with power, occupy blockers, and free up Floyd to run and chase down plays.

You can move Floyd to ILB at times or even stick him at nickel... versatile chess piece

I'm still all about one of the QBs in this draft. I would be ecstatic about Watson as our third pick. If we got Soloman Thomas I would not be upset but Jamal Adams feels like a sure thing.

We've officially hit the point of over-saturation.

I now hate everybody and their opinion.

Let's just get to the draft.

Dickerson just said on the NFL Nation mock on ESPN that the Bears want to either trade out of 3 or they want to take Thomas

Good luck trading down this year. This draft is considered weak at the top but strong in rounds 2-3. Hopefully they could trade back. If they don't take a QB at 3 than Thomas should be the way to go.

-Good Defence
-Run the Ball
-Mediocre QB
-Coach who can't work the clock

Where have I seen this plan before?
