Ok boys and girls, its that time again?

"What time Thai?"

Yup, its the

Annual Redskins Forum Mock Draft Contest!

FAQ:

1) What is it about?

Easy, you simply predict the:

Team
Position
Player

For each of the 32 first round picks in this April's draft.

It only counts for that specific pick.

2) How is the contest scored?

I'm glad you asked. The contest is scored in this fashion

For each specific pick, if you get the correct:

Team at that pick = 2 point
Position at that pick = 3 points
Player at that pick = 5 points

So if at #17 you had:

Redskins (2)
ILB (3)
Reuben Foster (5)

And that was the actual pick...?

Then you would get 10 points.

However, if you had:

Redskins (2)
LB (3)
Haasan Reddick (5)

And Foster was our pick, you would only get 5 points (Team + Position).

Got it so far?

Good. Because I throw a monkey wrench into the process with Rule #3.

3) Weighting

The draft is usually easier to predict in the first 5 picks and gets tougher as the round progresses. Since everyone has most of the first 5 picks the same, it makes it harder to get a clear winner. So I reward correct picks at the END of the round more than correct picks at the beginning.

To do this I add some weight to the picks by adding a multiplier to the score that you received on that pick.

So for picks:

1-5 = the multiplier is x1
6-10 = the multiplier is x2
11-20 = the multiplier is x3
21-27 = the multiplier is x4
28-32 = the multiplier is x5

So in our example above, if you had the Redskins picking Foster at #17 and it was indeed Foster, you would receive:

Redskins (+2), ILB (+3), Reuben Foster (+5) = 10 points

And then the multiplier of x3 for a total of 30 points.

Fairly straightforward, right?

Ok, more questions.

4) Some players are considered at two positions, how do you score that?

I go by the position listed on the NFL.COM website. So before you submit your picks, put the position that the NFL.COM website has him listed at.

Do NOT put what you have "projected" him to play. Some people hedge their bets and pick Guard as the position but think the team will take an OT. So be specific. If it doesn't match, then that's on you.

5) What about trades?

You get no extra credit for trades. However, if you are right about a trade, then you'll be getting 2 extra points (correct team at that pick is worth 2 points) than anyone else.

6) Can I change my predictions once I've posted them?

Absolutely. We all know the conventional wisdom changes daily now, so there's no harm done in changing your mock.

HOWEVER, the deadline for making ANY changes is 8pm EST the day of the draft. So on Thursday April 27th at 8pm EST, there will be no more changes accepted.

ANYONE WHO CHANGES ANY PART OF THEIR ENTRY AFTER THAT TIME WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!

Ok some administrative stuff.

Tiebreakers?

Yeah, its happened before where two people had the same score. So the tiebreakers are as follows (in order)

A) Player who got the most completely right (Team, Position and Player)
B) Player who got the most points for the Redskins pick
C) If still tied, I will ask players to pick a number. I will relay that number to Woz ahead of time. The player who comes the closest to the number wins that tiebreaker

GOOD LUCK!!

PAST WINNERS:

Ok...my apologies. I was busy working this weekend and then had to help my mom as well as my mother in law out. Needless to say, I'm very tired.

So without wasting any more time (well...a little more...) I will announce the results.

the 4th place finisher:

...with 242 points...

Thaiphoon !!!

Thaiphoon's note: I REALLY hated you guys that finished ahead of me. I did my results first and I thought that THIS was my year.

the 3rd place finisher:

...with 246 points...

MikeT14 !!!

the 2nd place finisher:

...with 251 points...

daskins !!!

And...

Presenting the the 2017 REDSKINS FORUM DRAFT CONTEST CHAMPION...

...with 268 points...

PSID412 !!!

Congratulations PSID412!!

Ok some administrative stuff. This is how the rest of the field did.

STAP ----> 212
mike23md ---->192
Mknight82 ---->183
SlappyMC ---->176
ripsean21 ----> 145
HTTRG3 ----> No Entry (**) Crying or Very sad
Turtle28 ---->DQ(***) Crying or Very sad

(**) HTTRG3 - I was really looking forward to you participating this year.
Crying or Very sad

(***) Sorry man, I know you didn't mean to break a rule, but you edited your entry after the draft started. I know you were only doing it to change the positions to match NFL.COM like I PM'ed you that morning.

But you did it after the draft started. Crying or Very sad

And that's an automatic DQ.

See Rule #6:

Quote:
6) Can I change my predictions once I've posted them?

HOWEVER, the deadline for making ANY changes is 8pm EST the day of the draft. So on Thursday April 27th at 8pm EST, there will be no more changes accepted.

I await the mystical, mystery number with baited breath.

Is it pi? Or e? Or e*pi? Or Avogadro's number? Avogadro / (e * pi)? Gravitational constant? Planck's constant? C'mon man, don't leave me hanging here!!

Won't need it yet. But it might be Fibonacci
