Maybe that money will go to Lynch now.

Not a surprise but does add another hole on D. We will probably draft a DT and sign one after cuts once the draft is done. Also could resign him on a cheaper deal. Was overpaid at around $5mil per season.

And no dead cap for cutting him.

That's the thing. He was a projected cut to make room for a signing at the position. Now there's no signing to make. What's the plan now?

No doubt we will be drafting 1-2 interior guys, with a likely veteran signing after the draft as well.

Williams was great his first year with us. But last year was a whole different story. Glad he is gone with the price tag he was carrying.

Sure, why did we release him now though?

He probably showed up to team activities yesterday out of shape.

I'm surprised Dan Williams wasn't released earlier. Raiders pick up $4.5M of cap room without any dead money. It was a pay as you go deal.

Why did he regress so badly last year? Just unable to keep the weight down?

Showed up to camp super out of shape. Was in the dog house from then on. When he did play, he looked gassed and non-dominate unlike the season before.

Pretty much exactly what happened with Terrance Knighton. I'd love for the Redskins to kick the tires on Williams, but it would have to be a contract that's heavily incentive-based.

He definitely could be a fun semi-reclamation project for a needy team. But keep in mind that the Raiders have the weakest interior in all of football and weren't willing to give the guy another shot.

I see your interior and raise you the Redskins interior.

Also this:

Vic Tafur‏Verified account @VicTafur
Reggie called Dan Williams and gave him the news Sunday night. Wasn’t like Williams reported out of shape Monday. Raiders wanted cap room.
