Pretty hefty $$ contract. Patriots either spending money cause they have it or they value Gillislee way more than I ever did

Especially curious after paying Burkhead; I know he'll be more of a special teamer / pass-catcher, but still.

Yesssssss

Replacing Blount with Burkhead and Gillisless? Love it.

Buffalo Bills aka the Patriots farm system.

[inappropriate/removed].

I'm furious. He is going to absolutely shred for them.

Just so you know I'm not a homer when I said Gilmore isn't worth anywhere near what they paid him.

This one hurts more because I know how good he is going to be.

Confusing move to me, it's a fair amount of money for a position where they already made one decent move.

White, Lewis, Burkhead and Gillislee is a crowded backfield, probably not enough meaningful touches to go round.

Yeah, I ? this as well. Already a bit crowded in the backfield, could have used the extra money on someone else.

Disagree.

James White is primarily a receiving back. Doesn't offer much as a runner.

Dion Lewis has injury concerns and didn't bounce back as expected.

Blount is being replaced with Burkhead and Gillislee. Both young backs, with limited mileage. Cap isn't an issue to the Patriots right now. Amendola just re-structured and they already had the space.

RB needed an upgrade. It was one of the team's biggest need and almost cost us the SB. I love this move.

from PFT

"Analytics website FootballOutsiders.com ranked Gillislee as the most efficient running back in the NFL last year, and Burkhead as No. 2.

Analytics website NumberFire also had Gillislee first and Burkhead second.

Analyst Warren Sharp’s metrics had Gillislee first and Burkhead second in success rate, and Burkhead first and Gillislee second in the fewest “missed yards per attempt,” or how close they came to being successful on the plays that weren’t quite good enough to quality as successful."

Anyways, I love this deal for the Patriots. Most of the money is in year 1 and Gillislee is great in a committee.

You can never have too many weapons.

I feel like this may be the end for Dion Lewis in New England

They just extended James White for 3 more years, too (so 4 years in total). Very Happy

Sounds like they're trying to get the Bills to overpay for him knowing they have the resources, just like they did Emmanuel Sanders and Pittsburgh.
