A lot of late mccaffrey steam but last time there was a bunch of day 1 running back to us he went before we even picked.

I am really interested to see what happens this draft because I honestly don't have a good guess right now who the eagles take.

Here is the full write-up from Rotoworld:

Quote:
Report: McCaffrey to Panthers a smokescreen
"A source with knowledge of the dynamics" believes the Christian McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8 chatter is "likely a smokescreen."

Profootballtalk reports McCaffrey's "expected range" is 5-15. The Panthers have been strongly connected to running backs at No. 8, but there's been growing chatter McCaffrey could be gone by then. Basically, seven hours before the draft, no one has any idea what's going to happen. Buckle up.

Well, Galko is the one that reported that we were considering 5 players (Barnett, McCaffrey, Harris, Ross, and Conley), so it's not like he wasn't saying this before now.

And, we drafted Fletcher Cox without meeting him I believe.

This. Plus, he didn't play well against top 20 defenses. I see Mccaffery as Reggie Bush 2.0

I'm not saying it's not possible. I just doubt Galko has a single eagles source.

I think he gets 20+ touches, but a handful will be in the passing game.

My preference is to not go w/ one of the RBs at 14 as this is not only a deep class there, but next years class arguably has better top end talent and should be deep as well.

I understand why Roseman and other teams would like McCaffrey early though. He is versatile. He doesn't fumble. He runs great routes. He has great work ethic. He has no off the field issues. He has no injury issues.

McCaffrey is a squeaky clean prospect in a draft that is littered with guys with question marks.

Also I think we will take a lot of guys we never spoke to this draft. Looking at the players we did meet almost none of them are mid round guys.

If i was a GM that would be my move. Host every one i dont want and ignore every one i really want. That is the move.

Why would you tell the world who you want? Specially with as much video is there are on these guys, you dont have to see them anymore.

How did Carson play against top 20 defenses? Oh, right.

How about BWest against all the great defenses he played? Oh, right.

It's about whether they have translatable skills, and McCaffrey clearly does.

White running back =not very translatable skill.

Ps. coming from a white guy.

better than chimp kelly and telegraphing everyone he liked to the point where all 6 guys he wanted went before our pick the year we took smith. Even had teams trading up to take them because they knew.

How many white RB's did what he did in college and then showed the athleticism he did at the combine? Like Shannon Sharpe said, if he's a black player he's a top 10 lock all day.
