Zimmer should be up this summer, as long as the Ks don't increase too much

I like how the Indians haven't had to deplete their farm system either.

It's a bloodbath at ESPN and anybody who has been paying attention knew this was coming. There's a lot of reasons why today hasn't happened, but this is the biggest:

Quote:
Their collapse was further compounded by a failure to adapt to the digital marketplace & overpaying for broadcast rights.

I discussed this in the basketball forum. They severely overpaid for Monday night football and the NBA.

so far the only reporter I know of and will be sad that he was canned is Ed Werder.

I wish they would get rid of the Michael Smith and Jemele Hill. I think their show sucks!

ESPN needs to go back to its roots like where they were at in the late 90s early 2000s

That along with pushing social agendas and becoming less sports more MTV news is a huge reason. People have too many alternive options when it comes to sports news and don't want to hear their BS.

God that show needs to die a quick death. Whoever is deciding to keep it on needs to go.

Maybe it's time they move on from John skipper.

Yep.

Show me the highlights and make some amusing jokes, I can form my own opinions.

Highlights don't work anymore. You can see that stuff on YouTube and not really worry about ads if you have the right apps.

Neither does TMZESPN apparently.

Also, why would I need to search YouTube and the like for highlights if a show just provided them for all the games in an entertaining and straightforward manner?

This is what I'm kind of getting at. ESPN hasn't adopted to the Internet. It's their fatal flaw. Which would you prefer watching on your TV or quickly checking your phone?

Watching highlights on a high def flatscreen that's 5 feet across, not a 6 inch screen on my phone.

I disagree and your response was kind of surprising. You might be in the majority. However, if I want to see a Lebron dunk, I want to see it now. I'm not waiting minutes into a show to see it. Especially if I just saw the game the night before.

People are switching from TVs to tablets.

We're talking about 2 different things.

If I want to see a specific dunk? YouTube.

If I want to see the highlights from across the 3 major sports over the last 24 hours? Tv.

I personally think old school SportsCenter still has a place amongst sports fans.

You're not wrong, but because of horrible financial and buisness decisions ESPN is having to compromise and cut out somebody. ESPN will earn their money back with the NBA deal, but the Monday night football deal has been a disaster.
