Quote:
Defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson, offensive tackle Jeff Backus and linebacker Boss Bailey were not present Tuesday and are not expected to attend the Lions' voluntary camp, Wilkinson apparently is considering retiring. Backus has indicated he is unhappy with his contract situation. No reason was given for Bailey's absence.

I didn't know Backus was having prbolems with his contract... This increases the chances that we will pick up Justice if Huff is gone. Ugh! (Sorry... I'm biased against drafting Offensive linemen in the begining of the first round *Especially the ones that arent the ABSOLUTE BEST at their respective positions and have attitude problems*.)

I wouldnt be too excited with drafting justice, but from what I hear he is really good. I havent seen him play much. Whether we as fans want an offensive linemen or not we have to improve our line before we become a successful team.

backus is upset because he wants to get a long term big money contract and he wont sign the one year tenure.

This is ridculious. He should have signed the tag and tried to earn a big contract the next year,.

IMHO, i've not seen anything out of him that warrents a big money, long term contract????? Am i missing something??? The only accomplishment i've seen in his career is that he was a first round draft pick. Past that, he has been a body on the field. Usually, a body found on the ground.

Every player thats given a tag does this. They want the big money so they sulk just up until they are forced to sign it and come back to the team and are "happy" to be there.... Its all part of the game.

Its just taking time out where he could be with the team. Backus has to be there for everything with a new coaching staff.

It's funny how different fans from different teams think of players. I'm a cardinals fan and about 70% of our forum wants Justice.

I wouldnt mind justice if none of the defensive playmakers fall out of the top few picks.

I would like to take a defensive player, we really need a playmaker on our defense.

I was watching the draft special on ESPN and they were saying that they see justice falling to possibly the eagles, and Ngata going somewhere around 15ish.

Backus is a mediocre starting tackle. He doesn't have any business even getting the franchise tag. Someone needs to change his diaper and maybe get him a bottle.
