I knew next to nothing about Rooney, and for most my life as a fan I never thought of him as anything more than some owner who had really good teams. But the support and stories of him as a person that I've been hearing posthumously make me really sad that I never fully got to appreciate a legend of the league while he was still around like I did with Al Davis. RIP Mr. Rooney

I don't really care for the Steelers, but Dan Rooney was a great man.

He paved the way for more opportunities for people of my race and other minorities. RIP.
