I guess his son, Art Rooney II, who owns a mere 30% of the team according to wikipedia, which is the minimum required by the NFL.

I dislike the Steelers and their fans but have a tremendous amount of respect for Mr. Rooney. The absolute model for what an owner should be. Respect

Same.

EDIT: Well, i don't dislike the fans really. I have several friends, good friends, that are Steelers fans. Don't like the team, but that's sports for you.

The man was an NFL titan. Always did things the right way. The NFL wouldnt be what it was, or is, without him. Tremendous loss for the Rooneys, the NFL and the city of Pittsburgh.

Pathetic you feel the need to attack the fans in a thread like this, but not shocking coming from you.

I think fanbase complaints are overrated, every fanbase has bad eggs. The more popular you are, like the Steelers, the more there is. That simple.

Steelers are the model organization in the NFL IMO and it all starts with the owner. RIP.

There's nothing wrong with what he said, and it absolutely wasn't an attack on anyone.

Dan Rooney would occasionally walk with fans to the stadium on gamedays I have heard.

Condolences to the Rooney family. Thanks for everything they have done for the NFL, Pittsburgh, and its people. The Steelers tried to take on their owners' and the city's identity and values to a degree. It's rare to see that closeness ever achieved, but it's good to know there are still good people fighting toward that end. He will be missed, but his family's impact on the game and that fanbase won't ever disappear. So thanks again Mr. Rooney. The Nfl will still thrive, but it's a lesser league today than yesterday I think.
