Quote:
St. Louis sues NFL, all 32 teams over Rams' relocation to Los Angeles

The St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority, the city of St. Louis and St. Louis County have filed a lawsuit against the Rams and the NFL over the team's move to Los Angeles.

The complaint submitted to the Circuit Court of St. Louis on Wednesday lists all 32 teams as defendants.

The plaintiffs allege the Rams and the NFL violated the standards of team relocations and breached its contract with the city. The suit says the Rams made intentional false claims that only enriched themselves and damaged the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs are asking the court to force the Rams to give up the profits they made in the relocation, award punitive damages and grant any other necessary or appropriate relief.

Thoughts?

Exclamation Now it's personal.

If they win, let's all destroy their tourism industry.

Hard to have an opinion without knowing what language they supposedly violated. Somehow I doubt they have much of a leg they stand on.

I wonder who has the bigger / more expensive legal team.. the NFL or the 60th largest US municipality?

(I bet it's the NFL)

There still sitting on a $144mm tab for Edward Jones Stadium:

I think if the NFL teams pitch in to cover the debt (and any ongoing stadium maintenance until the stadium is removed and/or occupied) could make this lawsuit go away.

Which would be $4,500,000 per team.. not including the front office kicking in money. Pretty sure this will be settled soon.

Taxpayers will now shoulder the remaining payments for the Edward Jones Dome with only the help of revenue from tractor pulls, volleyball tournaments, concerts and the like.

The fans would rather attend tractor pulls than watch Jared Goff play quarterback.

Laughing Nice!

Well then, everything worked out and everyone should be happy. Because LA fans would rather watch Goff play than watch tractor pulls.

How long do you think that will last?

Probably not long.

That being said, I'm pulling for St. Louis on this. They and their fans got straight-up robbed of a team.

I bet they settle and send about 10 players back to STL.

They'll settle, but if they hypothetically won I imagine that would radically alter how NFL teams get funding for stadiums. Owners might actually be forced to actually make deals that are city/state friendly or use their own money

Hope St. Louis wins. Don't want to get all political but citizens shouldn't pay for stadiums. The billionaire owners who profit from them should. It's been proven time and time again that stadiums cost more than they bring in to an economy.

I am not sure the city will be willing to settle. Clearly they are making it personal by asking for punitive damages. I am not sure there could possibly be enough evidence to win but am rooting for the city.

St. Louis won't win, they'll settle for whatever the NFL throws at them.

While I do agree citizens shouldn't have to pay for stadiums if cities want to keep their teams they'll have to pay for stadium upgrades and eventually new stadiums or the NFL will have to figure out a new stadium funding method or cut all the fancy sh** and make it a bare bones stadium that tax payers can tolerate the price tag on.
