It's being reported by Adam Schefter. Not a whole lot of details at the moment but I can get on board with this Very Happy

Update: Eagles/Ravens are swapping 3rd round picks.

Quote:
The "price" is a swap of third-round picks, with Baltimore getting Philly's No. 74 selection and the Ravens sending pick No. 99 along with Jernigan.

Not sure? Swapping 3rds for at least a one year rental works for me. Whether the Eagles have enough money when he becomes a FA next year , who knows.

Damn. Even if we can't afford him when he hits free agency next year, this still isn't a bad deal.

Weird trade for BAL to make. Maybe a conditional pick is involved?

Kinda, #99 was our comp pick.

I don't mind the value, really. It's basically a year of Jernigan + potentially a 2019 4th round comp pick (maybe 5th depending on contract) vs. essentially a 3rd round comp pick this year (via TVC). We have a very deep DL and while Jernigan was definitely one of our better players on that DL, he was for sure leaving next year anyway. Good player, high upside, hopefully he can put it all together for the Eagles. With a lot of the better value in the draft seemingly in that 2nd-3rd round range, having an extra pick there will certainly help.

If Brent Urban can stay healthy, the DLine should be fine. That said I still find it odd. I know you're going to lose him in a year and the DLine depth is good but I would expect the Ravens to use a high-ish pick to replace him which could have gone elsewhere...

Jernigan is a good player, he was going to leave next season, but I would still have him for a year rather than swap picks. Not a fan of this one. Mad

He doesn't need to be replaced. The Raven's line is flush with young potential drenched players. He was expendable, big contract looming, inconsistent motor, get what you can for him and allow the hungry young beasts behind him to feed. He was losing playing time towards the end of the season anyway, even with some promising players on the line injured.

The Ravens and Eagles have similar needs in the draft this year. The Eagles need corners bad, and the Ravens have stated wanting up to 2 in the first 3 rounds. This corner class is deep but sitting at 74 and 78 is a whole lot prettier than 99. The Eagles better snatch some corners early because a run on them will come at some point and the gap between 43 and 99 could leave them thirsty.

The Eagles must be really high on him and anticipate a re-signing. I thought he would go to a playoff caliber team envisioning a shot.

I wouldn't. The Ravens still have Williams, Pierce, Urban, Davis, Kaufusi, and Henry on the roster. If a defensive lineman (outside of an edge rusher) is taken in the top 78 picks it will be because that player is far and away the top available prospect. Not really because the team needs to replace Jernigan.

Wide receiver, pass-rusher, offensive line, cornerback, running back, and depth at safety and inside linebacker are still clearly bigger priorities than a nose tackle, a defensive tackle, or a 5-technique.

I get why the ravens traded him, But all you can get is a pick swap for a solid starter? The ravens got shafted on this deal even if the pick swap is nice, it's not enough.

Nice. We addressed our DT spot without giving up any picks. We can still use our first three picks on a skill player and two corners.
