Man, now that we have Brinson, I hate the Corey Ray pick even more. I know he got hurt in the minors but the pick should've been Kyle Lewis. Lewis in right with Brinson in center would just be boner inducing.

Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy
Keon Broxton has a small nasal fracture but not expected to hit the DL, Counsell said. "He avoided something incredibly serious."

The replay on this was BAD. I swear we are cursed this season.

EDIT: Broxton looks like he lost a fight

I'm not a huge Corey Ray fan or anything but a lot of people think he's almost as good as Brinson. Will be interesting to see what he turns in to. Example, Fangraphs has him at 20, Brinson 16, Kyle Lewis 36. Maybe he still has the top draft pick status pumping him up.

If he becomes a legit CF prospect in 1-2 years and is blocked by Brinson you can trade him, just keep loading up the farm. I think it's pretty obvious Stearns likes to build up the middle, he's added a ton of CF and SS/2B types.

Cursed.

We haven't heard any news on how serious it is yet either. You'd think something would be available.

He was having a nice night too. 1-2, BB, SB.

Elsewhere on the farm:
Josh Hader went 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 6 K, 5 BB, 85 pitches in Colorado Springs. The walks are ugly but 0 runs in CS is pretty solid.
Ryan Cordell went 2-4 with a 2B and a HR.
Brett Phillips went 1-3 with 2 K.

Mauricio Dubon went 1-5, played SS, and lead off.
Jacob Nottingham went 2-3 with a K and a HBP.

Monte Harrison went 1-4 with a K. Gilbert Lara went 0-3 with a BB and a K. Demi went 2-3 with a K. Mario Feliciano went 0-3 with a BB and 2 Ks. The TRats struck out 15 times last night, which is terrible.
Zack Brown went 4 IP, 4 H, 3 R/ER, 2 BB, and 8 K.

Carolina got rained out.

I missed that you guys are affiliated with the Mudcats now. The Carolina League is easily the best High A league in the minors. So glad the Cubs moved there from the FSL a few years ago.

I've heard mixed reports on the actual facilities, but yeah, the FSL was just brutal on hitters. Brevard County has consistent 20 mph winds blowing in from left field.

We're also in negotiations to buy the affiliate, which is nice. We just won't have to worry about renewing.

Todd Rosiak‏ @Todd_Rosiak
#Brewers top prospect Lewis Brinson getting a jammed finger checked out today. Left last night’s game after hurting it on SB attempt.

Was hoping he'd just be okay.

Don't forget to add in the fact that you can guarantee 70% of September games get rained out due to hurricane season. I hated the FSL.

For some reason the Braves bought Brevard County. I have no idea why you would do that with other affiliates available.

I'm not great with southeastern geography, but is it fairly close to Atlanta?
