Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy
Junior Guerra is on crutches. This is going to be more than a 10-day absence, Counsell says.

A [inappropriate/removed] bunt...

https://www.milb.com/timber-rattlers/news/wisconsin-timber-rattlers-2017-roster-announced/c-222233300/t-196097130

Quote:
2017 TIMBER RATTLERS:
PITCHERS (14): Luke Barker, Dalton Brown, Dan Brown, Zack Brown, Jordan Desguin, Victor Diaz, Nattino Diplan, Jake Drossner, Thomas Jankins, Aaron Myers, Cameron Roegner, Miguel Sanchez, Trey Supak, Braden Webb

CATCHERS (3): Mario Feliciano, Nathan Rodriguez, Yoel Vasquez

INFIELDERS (6): Jose Cuas, Ronnie Gideon, Gilbert Lara, Trever Morrison, Tucker Neuhaus, Jonathan Oquendo

OUTFIELDERS (5): Ryan Aguilar, Monte Harrison, Demi Orimoloye, Joantgel Segovia, Caleb Whalen

Takeaways:
1. Trent Clark is in High A. That team is loaded.
2. Corbin Burnes is also in High A. See above.
3. Franly Mallen, Nash Walters, and Josh Pennington are in extended spring.
4. The Brewers are seriously pushing some young guys. I think you could argue both ways on Lara, Demi, and Feliciano making it is a shock. Good sign on all three guys.

https://www.milb.com/mudcats/news/milwaukee-era-begins-with-prospect-rich-roster/c-222229958/t-196097152

Quote:
PITCHERS: Corbin Burnes, Colton Cross, Marcos Diplan, Nate Griep, Eric Hanhold, Conor Harber, Brad Kuntz, Kodi Medeiros, Jon Olczak, Freddy Peralta, Cody Ponce, Wuilder Rodriguez, Quintin Torres-Costa and Jordan Yamamoto.

CATCHERS: Mitchell Ghelfi, Cooper Hummel and Max McDowell.

INFIELDERS: Luis Aviles, Isan Diaz, Lucas Erceg, Jake Gatewood, Wendell Rijo and Wes Wilson.

OUTFIELDERS: Carlos Belonis, Trent Clark, Brandon Diaz and Troy Stokes Jr.

Takeaways:
1. Corey Ray is either in AA (unlikely) or starting in extended spring for a rehab assignment (more likely). I'll be interested to see how they handle him and Clark once he comes back.
2. Dustin Houle is in AA. He balled out in spring training, so that's interesting to note.
3. Assume Monte Harrison earns a pretty quick promotion, Corey Ray comes back once he's healthy, and Nate Kirby is here by mid-season. Now stick them in the lineup.

According to Counsell, Guerra is out at least 6 weeks and that the MRI showed a significant injury.

Yay.

If he's out 7 weeks, plus a 2 week rehab assignment, that puts him back towards the end of June. So he'd have maybe 5-6 starts to re-establish value for a trade. That hurts.

Davies doesn't have it tonight. Doesn't help that he's getting BABIP'd either.

Perhaps he did? Hernan is in at 3B.

That worthless fat limp - jackass. Shaw wasn't even at 3B when Story was facing home plate and he still waived him home.

Milwaukee Brewers‏ @Brewers
INF/OF Nick Franklin claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay and expected to report on Friday. RHP Michael Blazek designated for assignment.

Interested to see if Blazek clears waivers. He's gonna be furious considering he was mad that he didn't make the team.

The other interesting part is Franklin is making the 25-man roster. Which means someone is getting optioned or placed on waivers.

As a larger discussion, I don't necessarily get the claim and DFA wheel we constantly ride. Cravy's comments on getting demoted are just part of this, it seems like Stearns isn't really considering the human opportunity cost of the turnover at the bottom 15 spots on the 40-man.

Then again, he did claim Junior Guerra.
