The nerve that controls Floyd’s quadriceps was disrupted during surgery in September to clean up the meniscus in his right knee, and nearly six months later, the quad still isn’t firing, people with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.
The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to disclose medical details. |

And some fans wonder why players put off surgery as long as possible. |
Floyd went in for a pretty minor clean-up surgery in his knee before last season and hasn't played since. We had no idea why, but now it sounds like it was a botched surgery. _________________

I'm wondering if/when the coaches knew about this. Zimmer made some comments during the year that made it sound like Floyd was milking it. And you'd have to think that if they new it was a career threatening nerve issue, he'd have been placed on IR much earlier than he was. _________________

Well, that blows. Was definitely confused about his inability to return all year long. Floyd never really lived up to his hype but he was definitely solid to good and the defense absolutely missed him all year long.
This also explains his really long tweet recently where he was basically praying to god and asking for another chance to play. Poor dude.

I don't have much knowledge in this stuff, but I expect that the issue went undetected for quite a while and they just weren't sure what was wrong. This is a routine surgery. You expect things to heal, and they just don't, and then you say "Well it's just taking longer than normal" and then 6 months later you finally have to make the conclusion that they did some kind of irreversible damage. Zimmer was probably told that Floyd SHOULD be doing better, and when he wasn't, he got annoyed or suspicious.
The fact that he didn't play after week 1 but wasn't put on IR until December says that they kept thinking it would heal, but it just never did. |

Hopefully he can hold the surgeons liable. This isn't fair; he went in to get healthy, not worse. _________________

We'll never know cause it's a "Source" more likely than not someone in the vikings front office.
But still this sucks for the vikings, first Teddy and now Floyd might never play again....Easily the worst injury luck in the league last year hope he can get healthy. _________________ I'm not an honest person, I'm just 50 honest hamsters in a trench coat that learned to type.

Packers lost Nick Collins, Jermicheal Finley, Sam Shields, and Jonathon Franklin all to career ending injuries in the last six years. |

You really can't handle the Vikings stealing the spotlight, even if it's a negative spotlight, for one year? Jeez. _________________ TF713'sGreatestHits Texansfan713 wrote: | •I'll make a bet. Of course, the Doctor has insurance, so he won't really pay a dime outside of an increase in his malpractice insurance premiums going forward. _________________
