I am not good at starting topics so I hope this is okay.
Based on some late MM quotes, who actually in the past has been honest and not just smoke screen stuff, talked about how he had no plans to move Bulaga inside and mentioned he views Spriggs as a tackle.
Quote: | I’m not really looking to move him,” McCarthy said. “Because I think Bryan — I don’t think, I know — Bryan and David (Bakhtiari) gave us an outstanding combination of right and left tackle play. And with that, you’ve got that consistency and let’s be honest, that position affects game planning as much as any other on the offensive side of the ball.” |
Quote: | The first thing you have to say about Jason,” McCarthy said, “is he can play left tackle in this league, and that’s huge. That’s a priority position in my view. That tells you the importance that he has to our offensive line. I think we’re very fortunate we have David, Bryan Bulaga and Jason, so we have three high-quality tackles.” |
I think a fair amount of people had Bulaga/Spriggs some combo as their RG next year. Based on McCarthy's quotes who do you now view at the future RG.
Oh sorry article

Bulaga can play guard but I don't think Mike wants to move him over there. Spriggs is really just a tackle. I believe we drafted Jason just because Bryan is no spring chicken. Our RG is either one of the young backups already on the roster or a draft pick/UDFA we'll pick up in next month. |

Playing between Linsley and Bulaga will ease some of the transition for who ever wins that battle. GB brought in Bell for a visit, clearly they are looking for some more vet competition and depth at OG.
I'm certain it causes fans a fair amount of anxiety at this stage of the offseason, but there's plenty of time left. I considered 33 yr old Nick Mangold, but he's both old and has no RG experience. I'm sure there's another player or two they are considering before the draft. Cadmus had shared some info on former vike Brandon Fusco as another vet possibility. It won't be Bulaga or Spriggs though...
When GB drew a line in the sand with Lang, they knew who else was on the depth chart -

Thanks I am no good at starting threads, HA!
I not getting upset at how they handled it all, maybe it wasn't this forum but I go on another one and reddit, and they pretty much all agreed that Bulaga OR Spriggs was your future RG. So I just curious as to how MM's quotes change that. |

Somebody nobody here expects, causing everybody to say Thompson is losing it who is going to cost like 10 times less investment (draft pick/money) and be 3/4 as good as the guy everybody wanted to start instead. I'm guessing Patrick or Murphy. |

This is about as hot take as I get but I still think it's 50/50 or better we still see Bryan at guard.
It makes too much sense to me. But let's see what we add. They like Lucas P and I have fears Murphy is a guard type but he'll get a shot being OT4 at best.
I'd say it's BB or someone not on the team with some confidence though.
Fusco is interesting. Feel there is injuries started to take their toll? There was a time I thought he was a heck of a guard and I was relatively convinced he was a center type only coming out. |

When healthy Barclay can be okay at guard. However, he is a dreadful tackle. |

Na, he's pretty dreadful at guard as well. He's on the AJ Hawk end of career plan where get to play until you actually look like you are running around underwater compared to everyone else. Only then will he be released. |
