This is an enormous moment for our beloved franchise. It seems evident that mot of the players/coaches wanted to stay in Oakland, but that clearly is not happening now. How do you guys think this will ultimately affect the Raiders for the next 2-3 years before actually moving?

-Do you think the idea of moving to LV is more or less attractive to potential FA's?
-Are current Raiders going to be upset with the move, and ultimately not want to re-sign with us long term knowing we are LV bound?
-Is this going to be a major distraction to our young team, hurting us both on and off the field?
-Etc, etc

Of course the easy answer is "time will tell", but I am curious what people think of it all at the moment, and how they see some of this playing out.

I dont see any negatives for the players other than having to move. But their lifestyle, wages, etc should be better. As long as we keep bringing in a majority of high character guys I dont see any issues from that aspect. Hey and we get to make the other team wear black now in hot weather. Smile

i'm trying to be unbiased, but I don't see any negatives here. California can have up to 13% state income tax, compared to 0% in NV. Vegas is certainly as as attractive place as the Bay Area, but for completely different reasons and pros/cons. Players generally don't come to the raiders because they want to live near Oakland. LA/NY/Miami are the only places I can see that being part of a decision. The fact that our players will be able to keep 10% more of their paychecks will have a bigger sway than anything else I think.

Also, no one wanted to play in that stadium. Sewer pipes were flooding the locker rooms for goodness sakes. The idea of playing in a state of the art stadium is a huge sway over the Coliseum.

I have a feeling we'll have to fend off free agents more now, and be super selective of the kinds of people we bring in. Distractions are plentiful, high character players are crucial. But that's been Reggie's MO for the last 3 years now.

Honestly Las Vegas used the Raiders, Just having the NFL is going to bring lots of money to Vegas, The stadium will be used for many other events that benefit the city, add in pro bowls, super bowls, and drafts. Raiders got a sweet deal, but Vegas wins big.

It's a domed stadium. The Raiders will be wearing black.

You can forget about drafting anybody with character concerns.
Because Las Vegas brings out the worst in everybody.

Can you imagine Aldon Smith in Vegas?

Aldon would find trouble in Green Bay

I don't think the team will have a problem with the move, it will be interesting to see what happens in Oakland with attendance if the team slides from last year, I don't ever recall a situation like this ever before where a team still plays at the city they are leaving for 2-3 years.

The last time was the Oilers. It didn't go well and they left after one season. I think they played at a college until the new stadium was finished.

This is just cliché nonsense. If you live and work in Vegas, it's just a normal place.

Vegas brings out the worst in idiot tourists who go there to tie drinks around their necks and see how black out they can get.

^^ Agreed. Lived in Vegas for a year and you have to be a bad person already if a couple casinos close together is gonna make you turn into an uncontrollable person who blows all his cash on casino chips. Most locals stay away from the strip unless going to a show or restaurant.

Summerlin and Henderson are nice areas and I imagine most Raider players will find homes outside of the strip. The single guys might like all the condos lining all sides of the strip, but Vegas isnt a bad town. There are areas just like any other city, but most these guys arent going to be partying 24/7 like you would on a weekend visit. Plenty of golf, hiking, boating etc around also. Lots of high end shopping, shows, entertainment outside of gambling and strippers. I dont see many of our players getting in trouble.

I think that is why we will stay away from players that have tendencies like Aldon Smith. You never know though because Aldon might just need to get away from the people he has surrounded himself with in the Bay Area. And most Nfl players are not your normal locals. They are most 20+ year old men with a lot of money.

+1. People actuallu LIVE in Vegas. Some people swear they only drink and gamble everyday.

Like saying "Don't go to Oakland, or you'll become a criminal!" Because its one of the most crime ridden cities in America.
