I still like Michael over Don Jackson as the #3 guy.

I don't think you will find many that disagree.

To be completely honest, it's unlikely he will be competing against Don Jackson for a roster spot at the end of TC with how talented the draft class and in turn the UDFAs available will be.

I trust John Crockett to not ruin the play when he's on the field. I don't trust Michael to do the same.

I don't believe Crockett can make his own play when he's on the field, but I do believe Michael can do the same.

You give Michael the ball if you're in trouble and you need a spark. if it's a tight game, I don't want him anywhere near the field.

Well John Crockett is gone.

He was not retained and will not be with the Packers in 2017, so I'm not sure why we are comparing the 2?

Because he was the 3rd RB going into last season? Whoever it is this year, there will be 2-3 UDFAs or rookies who are already better at the offense than Michael.

Then they shouldn't have any trouble winning the roster spot

except that none will have the athleticism of Michael or they would have been draft picks.

So we shouldn't have signed Michael to a cheap contract because there's a chance he's too talented to lose a roster competition to some random undrafted RBs? That seems like a pretty shallow problem to be legitimately worried about.

I don't remember saying we shouldn't have signed him. He has good and bad sides to him, and it's exciting to have a potentially excellent back on the team. It's also worrisome that he's basically a turnover/mental error personified.

It's an interesting decision for the program and the roster build. If you value the playmaking you go with michael, if you value consistency you go with the Crockett type.

Historically this team has gone with the crockett type to the extreme. Well, maybe not with Bostic or Finley.

Some people will never be happy.....

Packers sign 26 year old former second rounder with a career average of 4.3 ypc who scored 8 TDs last season on just 170 touches.

....Yet some fans are up in arms over it. I don't get it.

Because it wasn't Peterson or Charles. I'd much rather have Michael back for peanuts then have to pay JC or AP what they would command.

Christine Michael signed a 1 year, $800,000 contract with the Green Bay Packers, including a $25,000 signing bonus. ($25,000 guaranteed).

I was correct about it being a Veteran Minimum Benefit Contract so it will only count $640,000 against the 2017 Cap.

The cap hit for Michael is only $175,000 more than our cheapest UDFA.

Solid. Prefer him over Jamaal or AP at this point and for that money.
