I really love the guy and he's probably my favorite player in the whole draft and would like Chicago to draft him. Only issue (major issue) is it seems he has arthritis in his shoulders? What's the full story there? It's definitely concerning but I don't understand the extent of it going forward

I just wish I saw more burst out of him. He's a great technician, I love his hand usage and his bull jerk but I just wish he had a little more juice to his game.

He has arthritic shoulders. That's the story. We don't know anything else.

I feel you.

I feel like he's destined to be like an 89 Overall rating type guy in the pros, which is good. But if I'm drafting you top 5, I want 90+

For me, a disappointing championship game performance, average combine and arthritic shoulders have tempered my expectations for him.

Still, I'd be fine with him at #9. But if you're picking in the top 5 and there's other studs you're choosing between, I can see why some other guys might be more appealing...

On the plus side, you can now edit players' overalls in franchise mode.

I think Allen has it in him to be a great player, hopefully he can keep his arthritis under control during his career.

Sounds like one of those situations where teams pass on him, then when he becomes an all pro they all feel pretty stupid.

Can he play DE in a 4-3 or is he strictly an interior player in a 4-3?

In addition to the shoulders, I think this is the real question. He doesn't appear to have the length or explosion to play DE in a 4-3, and then does he have the sand in his shorts to play on the inside in a 4-3 or the 5-tech in 3-4? Aaron Donald and Geno Atkins are the outliers of similarly built guys who have succeeded inside but they're the exception not the rule

Exactly that's what worries me. Your going to draft a guy that's going to be scheme specific, won't be able to over talent another player, and he has a long term issue with his strength.

To me that 19 reps on the bench was a red flag more than people make it out to be. As a browns fan I honesty might be inclined to pass on him even at 12. That worries me more than Marshons hammys.

Lol, yep.

I am perfectly ok with the Jags taking him at 4. Eventually take over for Calais at LDE.

Probably gonna come down to Allen/Fournette for the Jags.

Vic Fangio and Jason Rogers worked Jonathan Allen out at his Pro Day.

The Bears had Jonathan Allen for his only team visit so far.

Jonathan Allen came away impressed with John Fox after taking predraft visit with @ChicagoBears. "Really cool guy." @SiriusXMNFL @Gil_Brandt

They're certainly kicking the tires and probably talked to him about how they would use him and how he felt he could impact the team positively.
