McCown has a chance to not only win the job, but start for at least 3/4th's of the season. Good luck getting a proper judgement on Hack with Bowles' reluctancy to change QB's. It took us 7 games to see Geno last year, and he went back to Fitz after the Geno injury. He's not going to give Hack a proper chance at the job. 4-12, and the 4th pick in the draft, here we come.

Doesn't that say more about Geno though? Fitz played terrible and they didn't feel Geno could do better. There are positives to having at least competent QB play, judging other positions is key as well.

What is the point? Is he going to start? If so we are not going any where w him, at best we are a 5 win team. He's 37 backup at best we all know what he is. Is he going to back up Betty ? If so that means hackenburg will never play. I'm sorry but I would rather have Betty and hack play the season out and go 1 -15. Then a 37 y old and win 5-6 games. all I see is fitz all over again, Worst thing we did was start fitz with 6 games left in season . Bowles job is on the line , he will start him over the younger qb,s. What if trubinsky or Watson fall to second rd. ?

Really have a feeling that we're drafting a QB and having an open competition.

It has now become quite obvious that the Jets are tanking this year, howbeit not purposely like Cleveland. This is perhaps the worse team in all of football excluding perhaps 10 key players. The remaining squad are nothing more than backups or hopefuls to become regulars who are quite unspectacular.

125k for every game where he plays 50% of the snaps? WTF is Mac doing.

We should draft Chad Kelly in the 7th and watch him smoke these fools in camp and then smoke with them outside of camp.

Hopefully Rosen, Allen, and Darnold will enter in the next draft.

Don't know why bad NFL teams are obsessed with having a mediocre old guy on the roster to save face. Because that's literally the only reason dudes like this stay in the NFL long past their expiration date.

On one hand... he's a veteran.
On the other hand... what's the point?

Like mentioned in this thread, with everyone playing under a new offensive coordinator it should be a may the best man win situation. If Petty or Hackenberg can't push for reps with McCown as the opposition, than there's no point to either of them.

At least it's only a one year deal.

I don't think you see the point. If McCown plays semi competent there's a legit change that we don't get to see a large sample size of Hack next year. The goal should be to see Hack in 2017. Bowles will Bowles ala 2016.

I have a feeling we're drafting a QB this year. I'm pretty confident we are.

Such an awful signing. This has potential to be Fitz 2.0

Really doesn't screw up our long term plans tbh, they wanted a veteran presence and they got one while also getting a guy who could start if needed but realistically wouldn't hinder one of our Young guys stepping up.

I still think we are not done with the QB position. Just a hunch.

I think this cements the idea we are going to have an open competition at QB. I can also see the Jets drafting a QB possibly in the later rounds. I like Nathan Peterman. Not sure when he will go but in the 5th rd or so would be good.
