Who is K#2 if Forbath begins 'Walshing' ?

When was the last time a team kept two kickers on the active roster? Now compare that to the last time a team kept two quarterbacks on the active roster.

But sure, those two situations are exactly the same.....

One on PS.

IIRC, Punter Symmank does / did KO duty at his college (?), so he might be emergency K during a game.

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that QB Chase Daniel is visiting the Saints.

Undrafted in 2009 and cut by Washington in September of his rookie season, Daniel landed with the Saints and remained there for four seasons. They would have liked to have kept him around as the backup to Drew Brees, but the Chiefs made a strong offer and Daniel went there on a three-year deal in 2013. After that contract expired, Daniel signed a deal with the Eagles that made him the highest-paid backup in the NFL, at $7 million per year. With Nick Foles returning to Philadelphia, the Eagles had no further use for Daniel.

You are correct, sir. Here's your cookie;

I hypothesize T. Symmank would kick in an emergency, and a PS K would move up to the active roster during the week after Forbath does a 'Walsh'.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Blaine Gabbert to compete with Heinicke for the backup job. I'd also bring in an UDFA to have four QBs in the preseason.

Gabbert was somewhat decent in SF prior to Kelly arriving.

I'd roll with Heinicke. He's been in the organization for years and this offensive system fits his skill set.

Im good with that also unless awesome falls in the draft.

We dont need a journeyman vet or one with a chip on his shoulder.

I believe Heinicke would be #2 even with any of the rookies drafted.

I don't think they need to draft a QB, but I do hope they do there due diligence on them. If they think that they have a chance to draft a Russel Wilson or Dak Prescott in the 3rd or 4th round, I wouldn't be against them drafting a QB that high. Obviously the chances of that are slim, but until we know that we have a franchise QB, we should always be keeping our eye open

What happens depends not only on how the team feels about Heinicke, but on how Bridgewater's recovery progresses.

This brings up an interesting point.

Every team should be doing their due diligence.

Teams with a greater degree of uncertainty than Minnesota regarding their QB for the future will have already likely drafted such a 'gem' before round 3 ... or 2.

Years ago, Tom Brady was drafted in spot 199, as was Joe Webb several years later. Who knew which one was going to be a gem at that time? If you did, raise your hand now.

Several teams are much more QB-needy than Minnesota. So, I'd assume any QB the Vikings draft this year would be in round 5 or later, and the assumption would be he is going to be a clip-board holder for the majority, if not 100%, of his career. Henicke already fits that role, but could develop into a starter. So, I believe Spielman would use the later round picks on ST players.

Because I'm biased I'd love to have Peterman but I'd prefer to spend that mid round pick elsewhere.

Heinicke is the number 2 and we look to draft a QB early in 2018.
