Bahktieri is without question the best pass blocker in the NFL. Nobody sniffed Rodgers when going up against him.

4 years, $62 million with $40 guaranteed, averages 15.5 per year, so I was very close. The guaranteed is really high, but honestly, whatever we needed to do to keep him I'm ok with it. He would have gotten even more on the open market, probably from Dallas.

this makes me smile, despite me not agreeing with the "without question" part <3

PFT is now reporting now that only $29 million is "fully guaranteed upon signing".

Does anybody get the difference between guaranteed money, and "guaranteed money upon signing"? Roster bonuses due on a certain date, or something?

There are other great pass blockers. None make it look as effortless as Bahktieri does. As someone who really enjoys watching and evaluating OL play, I'm a huge fan of Bahktieri. Vernon and JPP played great last year. They looked like chumps against Green Bay because he is that good.

I think JPP was just trolling because of his hatred of Schefter and guys like him. He still has that lawsuit pending against Schefter and ESPN. He probably wanted to break the news himself.

Wow what a deal.

He better give his agent a high 4 for getting that done.

I like it.

But we still need depth on our d-line.

JPP has a strange sense of humor.

Yes. Signing bonus is cash you get right away. The other guarantees can be future salary or future roster bonuses. Players are gonna get the cash, just not today.
Its done both for cap and cash flow purposes. It also gives the team the ability to convert those future guarantees into new signing bonuses, which allows them to spread the money out even further

Check out the contract for JJ Watt and read the paragraph above the chart- explains how they did his deal and how they changed it once already.
The salaries in italics= guarantees. Youll note JJ is out of guaranteed money after 2017, which means they need to have a chat.

http://overthecap.com/player/jj-watt/1669

The same thing will happen with JPP, they'll have to revisit the deal in 3-4 seasons

The Giants are paying their two starting DEs an average of 32 million per year. They were good at bringing pressure last year despite low sack numbers, but for that kind of money our passrush better start looking like it did in 2007.

Hopefully JPP's hand will be stronger this year

I am a Cowboys fan so boo me all you want, but there is virtually no way possible that your DEs justify their pay. They would have to be Ware/Miller.
