Purely depends on which Sutton you guys are getting...we tried to bulk him up to make him an everydown player and it took away all his explosiveness along side the injuries...possible again brought on by the weight gain...if you guys are going to get the best out of him he has to get back down to the 285lbs range and be used only on passing downs...far better as an UT in Zimmers' scheme than he would have ever been in a 3-4...still see him as a long shot to make your roster tho.

He just isn't the pass rusher you expect him to be.

He was in a 4-3 his first year and then looked really miscast in the 3-4. He is super undersized, but actually is better against the run then he is the pass.

I just do not think he has the burst of the snap to be a penetrating DT or to rush the passer.

My honest assessment and I am not trying to troll you is that he just isn't very good.

I like the Sutton signing. Would've like to keep Toby but I have liked the depth they have added on the Dline.

Camp material, doesn't make the 53 ... I'm surprised we cut Toby

It definitely can't hurt to bring in competition/depth at DT.

Between Datone Jones, Jaleel Johnson, Will Sutton and Toby Johnson we will have a fierce competition there. I'd expect Brian Robison to get a good number of the UT snaps on passing downs too.

Toby was cut to sign Will Sutton unless I missed another transaction

He probably meant Tom Johnson, not Toby.

Yeah, I'll be interested to see how Tom comes back from the torn hammy. He might be the odd man out if Floyd can come back, and even if Floyd can't it'll be a tough competition.

Odd that Toby Johnson was cut for Sutton. Johnson is more of a NT. Sutton seems ideally suited to be situational UT, but we've got two in Tom Johnson and Datone Jones. Plus Jaleel Johnson. Sutton is a camp body but I figured Toby would be in the mix at third NT.

Toby Johnson was not a nose tackle VR. He's always been a disruptor on the interior even if his body type my say he's a nose tackle.

It tells me that they are content with Linval and Shamar as the 2 sole NTs....in the rare instance that both of them would get injured, they would be prepared to run just a 2-UT system.

What it does signify is that they are prepared to move on from Sharrif. Which is unfortunate...I hope that surgeon had good malpractice insurance.

They've also said that the rookie Johnson has nose flexibility.

I hope they don't play Jaleel there much, if at all, not someone who did well against double teams in college.

I hope they let him focus on the UT position, at least initially.

I don't think we need more than 2 nose tackles. Linval should be getting 100% of those snaps, and that is only a 2-down position.

Datone Jones
Tom Johnson
Jaleel Johnson
Will Sutton

Linval Joseph
Shamar Stephen

Camp battle could be between Tom Johnson and Sutton.
