I am with Nothland on this. I am also a major advocate for having bigtime DEs/DTs. Dallas may not have DEs "void of talent" , but in trying to win the whole thing Dallas will need more than "OK" D-lineman.

Just looking at how DEs may go 1,2 and 3 in this draft certainly goes a long way to the importance and impact at that position to teams looking to turnaround their fortune.

I believe the DE position is the most important/impactful position to a team other that QB. One way or other Dallas needs to find a real good one.
it's not the SKILL of a man, but the WILL of a man.

How do we have enough DT's for 2 rosters? Do people not remember the last few games of 2016 where Collins was the ONLY DT we had?

Irving and Crawford are ends that they move inside out of necessity to the detriment of the overall defensive line

Who told you that?

We gave Crawford a giant contract based on the assumption he was going to be our superstar 3T not our lanky edge bending speed rusher. That was supposed to be Lawrence and Gregory. He was flexed outside by necessity, when those two got suspended at the same time. He got paid and was immediately plugged into the interior of the line where, in 2015 he had a career high in tackles and 5 sacks(Which is basically the same production Maliek Collins had and everyone is raving over). He struggles on the outside because he isn't a 4-3 end.

David Irving has a little more flexibility, but again, he's no speed rusher at 6'7" 280. He did a lot of damage in GB vs. the packers, and his biggest plays came from the inside, not the outside. He did fair well on the outside against Gosder Cherilus though. So there's that. Irving has the ability to play strong side DE on running downs, but on passing downs he isn't going to be your Von Miller. He needs to be moved inside. Both Crawford and Irving could be a 1st or 2nd string 3T for any 4-3 team.

Then there's Ced Thornton, and Maliek Collins, who are also starting caliber.

And did you forget that we signed Stephen Paea who had 6 sacks from the inside last time he played for Marinelli? We have alot of DTs. And Marinelli has historically devalued the position.

We won't draft a DT.

I think our only real outside edge bending pass rushers are DeMarcus Lawrence, Benson Mayowa, Charles Tapper, and Randy Gregory. They all have different levels of talent and availability, and none of them are monsters. But those are your pass rushing 4-3 DEs on our roster.

The other guys are out of place 5Ts, that serve a purpose here.
Kilty as charged.
