Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
1m
Source: The #Raiders are going to sign FA TE Jared Cook. A huge addition for QB Derek Carr and their offense.

I'm a fan. He's no all of famer, but the guy is super athletic, and more reliable a weapon at TE then anyone Carr has ever had. Every TE we've carried has been mediocre only in spurts of the year.

I'm more of a fan of the kind of signing, addressing an obvious area we've lacked over the last 3 years, showing that no matter how good Carr is we're still going to make strides to improve the offense and help Carr continue to grow. Hopefully we didn't pay too much

If healthy, he's a massive upgrade at TE. But staying healthy has always been the problem with him.

Alright whatever where's Zach Brown! Mad

Seriously though, I'm cool with this as a stop gap. Now go mostly defend in the draft

Didn't realize just how bad TE has been since Carr has been here. Walford averaged about 2 catches a game last year. Rivera averaged 1/game. Combined for 30 yards a game. 2015, Walford/Rivera average below 4 catches a game combined and 38 yards a game. TE has pretty much been non existent in the passing game this whole time Carr is putting up top 10 QB numbers. Imagine what he can do with a good pass catching TE.

Not a fan if this signing. He's been extremely inconsistent his entire career. Anyone who thinks he's an "automatic" upgrade over Walford is being very veryyyy optimistic.

The only thing this signing does for us is make 2 TE passing situations a little more interesting.

Hmm...

Seems like a good move. Can't complain.

Nah, it's an automatic upgrade, and I'm not even crazy about the signing. Not giving up on Walford though.

Since when? Not coming at you, just don't think that is accurate.

Looking at his record he has only missed a few games. Last year was the only instance he missed significant time with a 6 week high ankle sprain. Before that he had 5 yrs playing every game and two year missing 2-3 games.

Well this past year was really nobodys fault. They had to use Walford as the blocking TE when he got healthy because Lee was on IR. Not to mention the injury issues at RT most of the season. They just didnt have as many oppertinuties as they would have.

Packers fans loved him. Said he can block, and only had one drop last year. Very good when he's healthy and motivated.
