Then he'll probably take a number in the 30s.

20,21,22,23,25,26,27,29 are all taken

A lot of available numbers in the 30s and 40s.

33, 37, 38, 39, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48, 49

Plus, others that could become available soon or could easily be purchased like 30, 31, 36, 40, 42

We may finish 8-8, but at least it will be a cost effective 8-8!

Thought this was interesting while reading some comments on a Murray youtube highlight video, posted just a month ago by two users:

Quote:
"The one thing people fail to realize, this guy has big games vs stout defenses. he recognizes blitz pickups extremely well and having him, makes Richard and Washington look like studs. Without Murray, we just have 2 backs that are the same exact style, but aren't smash mouth enough, to be as successful, if they didn't have Tay back there"

Quote:
Right for Example the Chiefs game. Murray was the only one getting yards and such.

Edit**

Another one...

Quote:
Since most of our wins were by a point or just a few points he was a big reason why we got 12 wins. He gave us 12 touchdowns in regular season. What he did to broncos in November was great. He needs to stay

He's a nice fit for this offense and a very good pickup. Contract still leaves the door open to draft a RB also.

Good call. Murray will wear 25 to honor a late friend.

I really like this signing. And as i expected will be an easy out after 1 year.

I also dont think we have to worry too much about cap room past this coming season. We have some flexibility with guys coming of the books like BRob/Floyd.

Good signing. He obviously isn't a star RB, but he is young and his best years are probably still ahead of him.

Pros -
Athletic Freak. You don't see many 6'3 235 backs in the nfl
Straight line speed. Legit 4.4 guy. Long strider but if gets in the open field, watch out.
Good pass protector.
Great around the Goaline.
Decent check down option for the qb
A pros pro. Great team guy, always says the right things.

Cons -
Doesn't play as physical as his monstrous frame suggests.
Frustratingly, goes down on first contact too much.
Won't make many people miss.
Doesn't have great hands.
Seemingly has trouble reading his blocks.
Much like AP, he's not a great runner from the shotgun.
Has a injury history, including two scary looking concussions. Another bad one could be it for him

I hope he does well. I personally Will miss Tay Train, even though a decent amount of Raider fans won't.

27 isn't "young" for a running back, in my book. He'll be better than Asiata for goal line work, and, he pass blocks well, and catches the ball well. So, it should be a good signing at $5 million per year. Not a super signing, but a pretty decent one. He can do the plowing through opposing DL, and McKinney the dancing by them. A decent duo. AP won't be back.

Like the signing. Though is it weird if I think we'll still sign Peterson back?

If he doesn't sign within a week, I will guess that is the end result.

I will try.

Full value of the contract is 3 years, $15 million.

For 2017, he gets a $1.8 million signing bonus (given to him the day he signs) and $900,000 in salary.

For 2018 and 2019, if the team cuts him before day 3 of the league year, he's owed nothing. But if he's still on the team, he gets $5.15 million guaranteed. $4.4 million comes in the form of a bonus, and he's guaranteed $46,875 each game he's active.

If he reaches a specific rushing yard threshold and makes the Pro Bowl, he then will earn an extra $2.3 million each year he accomplishes those feats. In 2018, his contract will increase by $2 million if he reaches a specific rushing yard threshold in 2017, and in 2019, it will increase by $4 million if he reaches a specific threshold in 2018.

This isnt a bad signing by any means. Very little guaranteed money and LM isnt a bum. He doesnt have great vision and doesnt play as tough as he looks, but he is still serviceable. He is pretty fast for his size and breaks off some decent runs. Viking fans arent expecting prime Adrian Peterson #s from him. He is a middle of the pack type of back. We still dont even know if he will start. He is a very high character guy and im just not seeing any negatives from the signing.
