Kinda disappointed we didn't bring Holmes back.

Really like him on ST, and thought he was underrated as a WR.

Same. He was good for what he was- a 4th WR. He made a decent number of good/clutch plays in his limited time.

We're at 33M under the cap before signing Manuel (definitely a cheap contract) so we still have a lot of space to sign depth. And we don't even need to keep a lot of space for our draft picks.

The priority is to sign a starting caliber ILB.
I don't know if Brown is still an option but RM won't move from his price (and rightfully so).
The next best option seems to be re-signing Riley.
Hodges, a trade for Kendricks and maybe Deandre Levy if he has anything left would be next.

Then Hankins and TJ McDonald are still available. Hankins will have to settle for what Logan and Poe got at some point. So 1Y/8M. That's doable.
McDonald will be suspended to start the season (probably 2 weeks) and that's the reason he's still out there. It doesn't look like the Rams will try to re-sign him. He fits our need for a bigger in the box safety. He can be a bargain.

And obviously we'll extend Carr pretty soon.

Free agent LB Jelani Jenkins is expected to visit the #Raiders this week, sources said. Team still in search of help at WLB, MLB.

I basically know nothing about him. Seems like he was a regular starter for Miami.

Teams I've spoken with about Jelani Jenkins see him as a WLB (position he played mostly with Dolphins).

Quote:
STRENGTHS Showcases good speed, moves well from sideline to sideline. Good burst. Athletic. Works well in pursit, able to track ball carriers and then make tackles. Possessing good blitzing ability. Best trait is his ability to cover. Can run with backs and tight ends. Easily flips hips, and turns his head to find the football.
WEAKNESSES Does not possess ideal size or length. Not very strong at the point. Will get latched onto blockers when the get inside his frame. Needs to use his hands better and be more aggressive in shedding blocks. Medical concerns.
NFL COMPARISON Nick Roach
BOTTOM LINE When healthy, Jenkins is a dynamic athlete who possesses great value with his ability to cover. However, he's had a hard time staying healthy, and struggles when run at.

So, he's more of a coverage LB but can't stay healthy (missed half the year in 2016).

Reggie isn't afraid to give young players their chance so I wouldn't be surprised if we only brought in one and James got a chance.

That sounds like what he did with Heeney last year so hopefully not.

Heeney flashed potential in 15 and many thought he was worth a shot. He got banged up in pre season and never looked right. Obviously the coaches thought he was capable. Not sure him and Smith were ever going to be a fit tbh. Heeney needs a Riley type alongside him. James is similar in that respect.

A MLB is only as good as the DT in front of him. You can't expect a 250 pound LB to take on a 320 guard without consequences to both the run and pass defense.

This Lynch-to-the-Raiders story, birthed by ESPN, is real. Late Saturday night I talked to an excellent West Coast source on this story. “He [Lynch] really wants to play for the Raiders,” the source said. “He also wants to do good things for his foundation in the area. This is a great chance to accomplish both things.”
It could happen one of two ways. Seattle could trade Lynch—likely for a conditional 2018 draft choice, since Oakland wouldn’t be eager to give anything this year, not knowing if the rusty Lynch would be worth it. Or Seattle could release him, which would void his contract.

Good write-up here by Peter King, telling us all how real the chance is that Lynch actually suits up for us this year.

2 tidbits on Marshawn Lynch: 1. Source on un-retiring says it’s “realer than it’s ever been” … 2. It’s #Raiders or bust. #BeastMode

I gotta admit I never thought it would turn out legit, but this is so awesome

Very debatable, similar player to Malcolm in my opinion. I'd welcome the addition but hope he isn't handed any starting position, if he earns it, great.

Players still available in FA I think could help our team...

RB Tim Hightower

DT Jonathan Hankins
LB Zach Brown
LB Perry Riley Jr
CB Nickell Robey-Coleman
CB/S Corey Graham

Add SS-T.J. McDonald, WLB-Keenan Robinson, and ILB/WLB-Gerald Hodges to that list. If we can get NT-Johnathan Hankins and either ILB/WLB-Gerald Hodges or WLB-Keenan Robinson, I feel a lot better hitting to the 2017 NFL Draft with needs at MLB, RT, SS/FS depending on where we play Karl Joseph going forward, slot WR, CB depth, LS that's if LS-Jon Condo is retiring or Reggie wants a younger LS, SS depth, and a bruising RB. For me, I have a lot more faith in 3T-Jihad Ward, 3T-Darius Latham, LDE/RDE-Denico Autry, and RDE/3T-Mario Edwards Jr. to bring pressure up the middle than most.

Was wounded all last year, FWIW. Heard he was looking a lot better the 2 years prior.

At least Condo's back. Truth is, he was probably our most valuable free agent in terms of what he provides to the team on a daily basis. Great veteran, never makes a mistake, integral part of ST's.
