Welp I guess this means no Foster in the 1st and I'm guessing this means what I thought, Cyprien will be the nickel backer.

I think we can rule out LB and WR(unless it's traded) for that 5th pick. Highly doubt we take any of the top 3 WRs at 5.

Look likes it cut his cap number in half. From $4 million to $2 million. Or something like that.

Still doesn't rule out a draft pick. It looks like he could be cut after this year with no issues.

Yeah figured after reading the his contract details the other day that we'd try to do something to this extent.

He's a decent player, doesn't bother me to have him extended.

Wasn't his cap number before high enough to warrant him being cut? Could be a new contract or cut type of deal?

Either way, I think he is the best ILB on our roster. Williamson is massively overrated on here.

I wonder if McCourty's contract is next. Cut or new contract situation.

Plus, he's my foster titan.

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually like Woodyard... I think he's our best all around LBer.

I still wouldn't completely rule Foster out if we trade down. I can easily see the 3 ILBs plus Cyprien all playing about 50% of the snaps each... depending on packages, 3 of them could even be together on the field at the same time (GL, short yardage, or other bigger packages).

Now that the initial surprise has worn off, I think this is best for both parties.

Titans get to save money and keep a reliable option at ILB. Woodyard gets to stay on the team (for his sake) longterm.

I'm with you. He makes a lot of plays. Go back and look at some of the highlights from a year ago, he made a lot of stops.

Our pass defense needs to improve, no doubt. But it wasn't all on the linebackers.
I think a lot of people remember Jack Doyle taking them to school and that concern was spread over the whole season.

Our Corners were horrible and could have used some improvements from the Safeties.

I still think there is a good chance we draft someone to mold as a successor. A 3rd LB.
Woodyard can be cut after this season if his play dips more or he can be kept as a good vet/special team player etc....
