Just tweeted by Schefter. A+ off-season!

4-year, $43.5M, $19M guaranteed. Love that it's only a 4-year deal.

This ices it. Great off-season. Now if we can either make Butler happy or trade him for plus value... my god.

Quote:
Chandler Jones - $51M guaranteed
Jamie Collins - $26.5M guaranteed
Dont'a Hightower - $19M guaranteed

I still can't believe Jones got that much money. Insane. Laughing

Unfortunately or maybe for us fortunately ILB are not as coveted as OLBs / DEs

Hightower's durability was likely an issue in talks with other teams.
The Pats are pretty well-protected, though, in case the injuries start to really catch up to him.

Still would like to see them invest early picks on the position.

Reddick or Cunningham would be nice

Literally did a fist pump when I read this...and I'm not a fist bump kinda guy.

Now, sign Butler for preference, or trade him for a decently high pick and the off-season is a success before the draft has even started. Maybe add a veteran DE too.

Do you think if it's NO we get anymore than the 32 back?

In terms of a trade? I doubt it. In fact I doubt he's traded at all. The Pats have all the leverage, if some team wants him they can sign the offer sheet and then the Pats get their first.

I think he either gets signed to an offer sheet, or stays here. There's very little incentive to trade him once he's signed his tender - one year of Butler at 3.9 mil is worth more than the high second/low first he'd be traded for.

Honeslty, the only way I can see him being traded is if there is some kind of "gentleman's agreement" carried over from the Cooks trade.
