|
|
|
**EDIT** Since Datone Jones has signed with the Vikings and Jared Cook has signed with the Raiders we can now sign 2 Qualifying UFAs and still receive the maximum of 4 Compensatory selections.
All of the Packers Qualifying UFAs have now signed, 1 of them re-signed with us (Nick Perry) and the other 7 Qualifying UFAs have signed with new teams. Thompson has signed 1 Qualifying UFA to the roster in Martellus Bennett so we are currently set to receive the maximum of 4 compensatory selections in the 2018 NFL Draft.
When Jared Cook signed with Oakland, Green Bay was set to receive another compensatory selection, but teams are allowed a maximum of 4 compensatory selections per NFL Draft. Below is an UPDATED snip of a compensatory pick cancellation chart, which can be found on OverTheCap.
I fully expect Thompson to take advantage of this situation and sign 1 or 2 Qualifying UFAs before the NFL Draft (even if it's a few low level signings that would only negate our lowest selections, which would be our 6th Rd Picks for Julius Peppers and Datone Jones). With our knowledge of the compensatory formula and the fact we have a healthy amount of cap space remaining my question for all of you becomes: Which 2 Qualifying UFAs would you add to the current roster?

Dont'a Hightower....
But seriously I think Jonathan Hankins was a beast last year. I'd be very interested in him. |

Yeah,
I was trying to keep it to realistic ones. Packers aren't going to offer anything more than the Patriots would match.
That's not to say the Jets wouldn't offer more than the Patriots would match.

Jonathan Hankins, big space eater who has the ability to collapse the pocket as well. Only 24 y/o and the longer he sits around the more I want him. _________________

Really surprised that no one wants Brown?
Zach Brown was a Pro Bowler, but he seems to have run into the same situation as Cook when he hit FA. No one wants to sign him to big money because he's only done it for 1 year. I think he could be had on a value deal at this point. |

I just have no idea what brown is, or what his game is about. Hankins I have seen affect the game. |

Closet Bills fan here, family is full of them.
I think he would be an excellent signing if the price right now is as low as I think it is. I'm also an individual that thought Ted wouldn't look to add an ILB in FA or the Draft (except late Day3). I have never thought ILB is the big problem that a subset of posters make it out to be, but if Brown comes cheap I'd be all for it.

The idea of having a GOOD inside linebacker is becoming more and more appealing to me. I'll take Zach Brown. |

That's just what OTC has right now. I think it will be on the edge of a 3rd/4th, but I think it will end up as a 3rd. So does CWood. |

I really want Poe, but Brown is a better deal for me. I'm confident we could replace a DL in the draft, but not ILB; even if CMIII moves inside... |

Do you combine comp picks to move up if we are over our limit IE 2 sixths become a fifth? |

Ok, for me I don't know if the Packers would choose to add a UFA DL with what's currently available among the Street FAs.
The Packers will look at it 1 of 2 ways IMO.
1) We're comfortable with Clark and Daniels as starters and the rest of the depth we have at the position until Guion returns. Let's go sign a Street FA to further boost that depth.
Street FAs
Sen'Derrick Marks
Jared Odrick
Tyson Jackson
Al Woods
2) We're not comfortable with our depth and we can (potentially) release Guion to pay (most of) what it would cost to upgrade with a Qualifying UFA.
Johnathan Hankins
Dontari Poe |
