Howdy.

In the process of preparing my mock drafts for the next six weeks. What would you say are the three or four most pressing needs for your team ranked in order of most to least?

Thanks!

Hmmm. I don't expect others to agree:

RG
CB
LB (outside)
CB/S

RB and OL for sure.

Depaending on possible free agent signings, they could use depth at DT, OLB, CB, TE, and WR

Runningback - As of right now we only have a change of pace back and a couple practice squad pieces. This may change in the next few hours/days if we bring someone in. Even with Peterson returning I consider it a priority.

Guard - really about equal to the situation we are in with RB. Boone is basically on the last year of a prove it deal, and if he doesn't preform well we may see the end of him, but right now we have a pretty unknown situation at RG

Tackle/Center - can really go either way here. Depth would be nice at either spot. Even with bringing in Remmers and Reiff the next best we have is Clemmings. At Center this is probably Bergers final year in the NFL

Cornerback - If Newman returns it isn't such a high need, but it would be nice to try and get one within the first 4-5 rounds in this deep class to let one try and develop either into a starting slot or a outside back depending on how Alexander really grows and develops.

They should probably fix the SS position. But they won't, so don't bother mocking a SS.

Other than that they need help at

RG
RB
LB
DT
CB
OT
OC

1. RB
2. RG
3. CB
4. OLB
5. C

Other positions to consider (in the mid-late rounds):
- RT
- K
- Backup QB
- S

RG - someone capable enough to compete for the starting job
DT - need someone who can potentially start in 2018.
OT - need a developmental guy to backup both sides
TE - need a #2/#3 TE to compete with Morgan behind Rudolph
LB - need more depth and someone to compete at WLB.
RB - need a #3 guy
CB - could use more competition for the #5/#6 spots.
WR - could use more competition for the #5/#6 spots.

EDIT: updated after signing Murray and Newman

Pretty much spot-on. I think we need starting:
1) RG
2) RB
3) LB (to replace Greenway)
4) slot DB (to replace Munnerlyn)
5) P

And better back-ups at:
1) O-line (acrossed the line)
2) CB

RB
OLB

1) RB - I expect a free agent signing but we currently don't have anyone on the roster that can handle a 15+ carry per game workload.

2) RG - Berger or Sirles might be able to start, not ideal if that is the case.

3) UT - Signing Datone Jones might alleviate this need but looking towards the future, I think Sharrif Floyd won't be returning. The Vikings could use a true every down UT.

4) LT - Riley Reiff is a better RT and Mike Remmers isn't very good. MN needs to find a better and cheaper alternative to develop at LT.

5) LB - MN lost Chad Greenway and Audie Cole, depth and a part time OLB could be argued as needs.

6) S - Andrew Sendejo is okay, he's probably the weak link on the defense if there is one. Time to draft and develop a replacement.

Other depth needs include WR, C, DE, and CB.

Oh yeah, we need a Punter!

For me,

1.) RG: An instant starter that plays to a high level likely isn't available past the top-5 or 6 rated OGs. I think Lamp is good as gone before the Vikes pick. Feeney and Dawkins would be the two most likely available in the 2nd rd. Dark horse for 2nd round would be Elfein or Pocic at Center.

2.) RB: As it stands today, no Adrian means ya gotta draft somebody. Might well be the case they don't draft a RB til Rd 5 though. There's potential that LB may be the 2nd Rd Pick, pushing OG to the 3rd round . . . note to self: Watch T.J. Watt Wink

3.) CB: With the signing of Jones, DT/DE is kind of resolved. So, CB with the loss of Munnerlyn, and possibly Newman, becomes another priority. Last year the talent and depth were as good as ever on the Vikings. Going in with Rhodes, Waynes and Alexander seems like a decent trio, but the Vikes really need those 4th and 5th CBs to be starter quality . . . and right now 3 can't cover 4.

I'd swap #5 and #9, but that's a good breakdown.
