Howdy.

In the process of preparing my mock drafts for the next six weeks. What would you say are the three or four most pressing needs for your team ranked in order of most to least?

Thanks!

1. Pass Rusher
2. DB (both CB and S)
3. QB
4. OT (swing tackle with the ability to take over at RT)

1. QB
2. OT
3. Corner
4. Safety
5. TE
6. 5 Tech DE
7. WR
8. ILB
9. OLB
10. DL

We are real good at guard and center if we can get healthy. So we got that going for us. Which is nice.

Playmakers.

When the game is on the line, the Bears lack somebody who can:
1. Complete a big pass
2. Reel in a big catch
3. Close out the game with a sack.
4. Close out the game with a takeaway.

Truest post I've seen on the interwebs this offseason. The quickest path we can take to addressing this is the one we need to be on.

Serious Needs

S
CB
WR
QB

Secondary Needs

DE
OT
TE

Solomon Thomas and John Allen would be fine picks even though I don't think they are as desperate of needs.

Sorting from largest need to smallest need

I absolutely expect us to draft:

1. QB
2. RB2
3. DL
4. KR

QB you keep going until you find a top 5 or even top 10 guy who can actually win your franchise a superbowl. RB we have nothing behind Howard... DL we need a backup NT and probably a 5t.... either starter or backup, depending on how much faith in Bullard you have. Finally, we need someone to return kicks.

Could probably use, but could get away not drafting:

1. OLB
2. CB
3. WR
4. TE
5. K
6. SS
7. OT
8. FS

Our OLB depth honestly isn't that good, nor is our pressure when Floyd/McPhee/Young aren't in. CB was improved with FA, but we still probably need 1. WR is a giant question mark right now across the baord it could be good or bad. TE is passable post FA... but meh.... Our kickers suck, and I probably should have listed it higher. SS I think we can be ok with Amos or the FA guy we picked up, but we could probably also do better. Our OTs are both over and underrated.... both could probably be upgraded. FS I put at the bottom out of the potential for Hall to transition there... Not likely but at least there's some ray of hope for a better future already.

Positions we would absolutely not draft:

Center... that's basically it, lol.

1...S/CB...We badly need a playmaker in the defensive backfield.

2...TE/WE...We need to give Glennon some weapons outside.

3...DL...we have zero depth behind Goldman & Hicks.

4...RB...I expect us to run the ball alot this year and we need to take some pressure off of Howard.

5...OT...We need to try and develop an OT because they are becoming harder to get from the college game ready made.

6...OLB...Can't go wrong adding pass rush.

I slot QB in at 3, but we are in lock step on 1 and 2.

The secondary is deeper, but it is not talented.

I think with how bad this team is we need to add talent before trying to develop a QB...Glennon buys us another year before we take a QB high.

I'm looking at our 2018 roster and there are a ton of dudes that can be let go / coming out of contract.

Porter can be cut for cheap ($300k)
Fuller is a FA
Amukamara is a FA
Cooper is under contract
Hall is under contract

So I have to believe CB is a target in this draft

TE... Zach Miller is a FA next year, so I think it is a need as well, unless you like the developmental prospects

Akiem Hicks is a FA so 5T/3T is a huge, huge need of ours. We could even double dip in this draft if we are worried that he will command a ton of $$$

I feel if Lattimore didn't have the hamstring concerns he would be the pick.

1. DE -In a 3-4 u really need hogs and we have a journeyman starting
2. Safety - still only one starter on the roster that is legit
3. Cb - draft and loaded and we still need a big time player
4. QB- need a young guy to develop

TE/Wr positions I view to be in the same boat in that quality depth has been added to the point they should be at least better than serviceable if healthy.
