Howdy.

In the process of preparing my mock drafts for the next six weeks. What would you say are the three or four most pressing needs for your team ranked in order of most to least?

Thanks!

QB

FB
TE
LG
RG/RT
NT/DT
EDGE1
SLB

This is what we either need to address or see a player become better or take on a larger role.

I don't see how SLB, NT, or K are needs.

We just cut Miler and Myers kind of sucks...

27-34 on FGs and 29-32 isn't exactly something that we should be proud of

And unless you think another season of Skuta production is acceptable, yes it needs to be better.

Myles will be in the middle. Poz will be the SLB.

I don't know if this part of my post was missed or something, but here is is again

*we either need to address or see a player become better or take on a larger role.

We can think things are going to get better all we want, but until they do or are addressed specifically, they need to either be addressed or see a player currently on the roster fill that role better than it has been filled thus far. We don't exactly have the greatest of track records with that sort of thing. Hopefully that changes, but until then I think it's probably best to stick with a "needs to be better than it has been" list rather than us hoping our favorite prospects or signings become better than they've been thus far and telling people that those spots aren't needs.

We need Blake to be good or a new QB.
We need our LBs to be good or new LBs.
We need Gipson to be good or a new FS.
We need Cann to be good or a new G.
We need Parnell to be good or a new RT.
We need our EDGE to be good or a #1 EDGE.
We need Abry to take on a much larger role effectively or a new NT.

This applies to recent signing as well, but the team isn't going to re-address them in the same offseason (except in the case of insurance/redundancy/best value pickups).

The rest of the spots are where I'd say as long as production doesn't get worse, we're at least okay and don't necessarily need to see better. Some of them will need to overperform to carry the rough parts of the team, but I wouldn't explicitly call them an issue the way performance from the other spots has been/will be without someone picking up the slack.

Ideally Blake is good, Cann and Parnell shape up, we get the LBs sorted out, Yannick develops more, Abry both continues developing and has the game stamina to last as the #1. And some of these I think have a good shot at happening. but as we've seen with this team, trusting development and sliding pieces doesn't always work out. And honestly who knows which of these Coughlin views as the most volatile and least likely to work out.

I'd rather give the person the big list and tell them to decide which players they trust as being good and which they don't rather than letting our views of the maybes influence that.

That's way too much rambling explanation on my part. I need to sleep.

Our starting LBs are good. Skuta is not a starter anymore. And the SLB this year will probably play more of a traditional off the ball role. Not only that the SLB is not that important in this scheme.

Except most of those missed FGs are from 50+ because he was our only offensive weapon. He was 7-12 from 50+, made all his attempters from 20-29, missed only one attempt from 30-39, and missed only one from 40-49. So yeah.

And until we actually see that they perform well and those changes are made, it's still something we need to see perform better.

You're acting like the SLB was getting abused last year. It's really a negligible position and barely is on the field anyway. It is not a need so much as it is irrelevant as long as you don't have a sieve there, which we don't.

You're welcome to believe that. But until they show they're good, we still need to be better than what has been there.

and what does "show that they're good" means?
