Quote:
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Lang signed a three-year deal with the Lions.

Prior to that report, Lang explained his decision-making process.

“Went back to Green Bay, they were still in the mix,” Lang said Sunday during an interview with WXYZ’s “Sports Cave.” “Took a visit to Detroit, had a great visit there with all the coaches and everybody. I just love the attitude around the facility. And I just got back early this morning from a trip out to Seattle.

Will he play left or right guard? Either way our line is looking like it's going to be improved. Upgraded the RT spot and the interior which should really improve our running game. I expect us to look for a back in the draft this year.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I can compare the cost of Lang and what Warford got.

About damn time. Finally in Free Agency the Lions are fixing the line problems. Lang is a very very skilled guard and Wagner is a border line All Pro RT. Fells is a great blocker at the TE level and at 30 only has a few years of wear and tear on him. Pair all that with Glasgow, Decker and Swanson we are looking like a running team. Now draft D'Onta Foreman and lets start hammering the league like the Pats do. Power back and then a great receiving back. The Lions are about to be players in this league and it won't be to long and we will have our superbowl title.

Fair, but Lang is better than Warford.

Seattle probably drove the price up. Id imagine its a little more than Warford got.

The thought of Stafford having a good oline is giving me goosebumps.

I would have rather played Laken at RG and gone after some defense. Johnathon Hankins, Hightower, Zach Brown, Gerald Hodges, Perry Riley, etc.

We could have been good enough with Laken at RG or gone after Evan Mathis or Jahri Evans as a stop gap.

I just feel like Quinn thinks the offense needed to be upgraded more than the defense. The defense that was one of the worst in the NFL at pressuring the QB and stopping the pass. Akeem and Cornelius are not upgrades.... system fit or not. Levy is for sure gone post June 1. He's putting all his eggs in the basket with the draft. That's a dangerous game but I hope it works.

I think Quinn has a plan.

Surely, the front 7 is weak right now. It is a loaded defensive draft, fwiw.

Look at it this way: We may of upgraded Reiff and Warford, for less than they got elsewhere.

I know most in here didnt agree, but I thought our oline was bad last year. Im glad Quinn has made it a priority.

I disagree.

I think Lang has been consistently good for about 3-4 years now. Warford had one good year in 2013.

I really like the signing for Detroit. Lang is an upgrade over Laken/Dahl. And it still leaves us with Laken/Dahl as depth.

I also don't believe this eliminates Quinn from addressing the defensive side of the ball either.

So we gave up Reiff and Warford for Wagner and Lang.

Reiff- 5 yrs $58.75 million, $26.3 million guaranteed.

Warford- 4 yrs $34 million, $17 million guaranteed.

Wagner- 5 yrs $47.5 million, $17.5 million guaranteed.

Lang- 3 yrs $28.5 million, $19 million guaranteed.

One could argue that we slightly upgraded our line for a slight decrease in pay.

G T.J. Lang received a three-year, $28.5 million deal with $19M fully guaranteed, according to source.

Don't like it at all. Anybody have an idea of our remaining cap space?

If I'm reading things correctly, after we add in Lang's money, we should have around $14 million in cap space before possible cuts of Ngata, Bademosi or extensions of Stafford and Ansah which should give the lions more room to work with.
