Solid "meh" from me. If he's better than Howard, good. But I really don't expect much. Also, why did that guy bring up a year old stat?

I think he is insurance for Howard's healthy and Vadal's inexperience.

Agree. Classic McKenzie ho-hum FA addition that won't deter us from drafting that position if the value works out.

He has health issues right, or am I thinking of a different guy?

edit: For those wondering it was 2010 back issues lingered ended on IR, but obviously thats pretty long ago.

Competition at the very least for Howard. Encouraging to hear he's been improving. Played at OG for NYG.

Wondered if we would go for him if Watson wasn't re-signed. Typical Reggie pick up, can play anywhere across the line.

Perhaps this is why he improved so much:
Quote:
5. Marshall Newhouse, OT, Giants (two years, $3 million, 32.9 overall grade)
While the Giants didnít break the bank for Newhouse, they probably should have more thoroughly explored other options. He has posted a negative grade in all but one game this season, had the 10th-worst pass blocking efficiency (92.9) among qualified OTs, and has been equally poor as a run blocker (33.4 run blocking grade, 33.2 pass blocking grade).

This from a PFF article of the worst FA signings that year for the first 8 games.

We needed depth at OT and the upcoming class is weak. Nothing more.

this might be premature, since salary isn't out...

GRADE: B

Reasoning: Watson was overpaid and left, and 6th man spot opened up. If we didn't overspend it is a good move filling a hole. He is young with experience as LT and RT. Started at LT on a 15-1 team. I believe he wasn't too good on Giants. However, expectations are for him to be a reserve and not depend on him as a starter. We have one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL, and Carr makes pass blocking easier by making fast reads. We have to remember Penn is old, and more depth is needed.

He was better than Watson and Howard last season, and Tice is a wizard, so he could do alright
