Yep and a true upgrade at FS. I'm elated at this signing.

Makes no sense to me why the Cards didn't bring him back for that price.

They let Jefferson walk too. They already have a lot of dough wrapped up in that secondary. Can't pay em all I guess, it yea with Marshall and Alshon now in the division something really needed to be done in the back. Swearinger is salty and this D has lacked that for a long time. Good move.

Thats what I thought as well, but if they don't plan on using him as a Free Safety then it makes no sense as Cravens is going to be playing more of the SS role. I guess maybe move Cravens to Dimebacker and Swearinger stays at safety when we play Dime or Nickel.

He's played some free in Arizona but with that kinda talent around you could do basically whatever you want back there. More of an enforcer type free safety than a center fielder but if used right and the pass rush gets home he'll be fine. Can't wait for him to knock the heck out of Odell that's for sire

Don't get me wrong I don't mind the signing and I like having a hard hitter back there. But we still need a true free safety I believe. Hopefully Swearinger continues to improve and ends up being that for us. If Norman is able to shut down half the feild it could help him as he would technically need to focus more on covering half the field.

Would be real nice if Breeland can step up. This move surely means Hall is gone which is fine and Fuller can continue to work on his craft in the slot instead of working at safety. I've been getting tired of guys learning new positions every offseason. Like if you can't play the position your at its time to go. Even with Swearinger a lot needs to read right with Cravens and Bree to make this a good unit

I'm actually fine with this. If I can recall, I wanted to grab him in the 2nd or 3rd when he came out that year.

Swearinger played FS last year replacing Mathieu because he was injured. In 12 games started at FS he had 66 tackles, 2 sacks, 8 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.

I 100% believe he'll play FS for the skins just like he played FS for the Cardinals last season.

If he had started all 16 games last year his prorated production at FS would have been:

88 tackles, 3 sacks, 11 passes defensed and 4 ints
