From what fans have said Chip didn't know how to utilize Smith.

Hopefully Doug does a better job of that and he rebounds nicely.

If he does good on the field he will be loved by Eagles fans as he's a great guy like Connor Barwin.

The Niners have been a joke, not sure why anyone is taking his time there seriously.

Given that Stills re-signed with Miami and the Saints probably want too much for Cooks, this is not an unexpected signing. I did expect more of a "prove it" deal, but we'll just have to see how it's structured.

It will be nice to have a semi-competent deep threat. Similar to what ninja said (in the other thread?), he doesn't have to blow up the stat sheet, just keep defenses honest.

If you pretend the 49ers season didn't happen (which you can justify by pointing to the overall mess that team was/is), this is a sold signing at just $5m/year. Of course it's not nearly enough to fix the WR position. If we get Alshon I'll be thrilled, and our WR corp will go from bottom 5 to at least middle of the pack.

Low upside, low downside signing. Nothing to love, nothing to hate. He is cheap and we needed a deep threat. Now go get Alshon.

Torrey Smith's deal with #Eagles is actually a 1-year, $5 million pact with two $5M options. He got a $500K bonus.

Love the idea of having a bunch of WR's on prove-it deals (J-Matt is a FA after this year too). We're gonna get everything they got this year.

As speculated this was a Joe Douglas move, who was part of the Ravens organization that drafted Torrey.

I really like Torrey's suit choice in his press conference. the black shirt/black tie with the dark grey is a solid choice.
