Football is not this guy's passion. Combine that with nagging injuries and it's easy to see why he dropped off after his rookie season. Don't expect too much, Panthers fans.

5 years/55 million, 25 guaranteed. This has to be the worst deal of the offseason

Tom Pelissero‏ @TomPelissero
#Panthers will sign left tackle Matt Kalil to a five-year, $55.5 million deal with $25 million guaranteed, source said.

If you're referring to fingers on his glove, the answer is yes.

That contract is awful. For a player with chronic injuries, what was Carolina thinking. Such a high risk, low upside signing.

Kalil getting 55 over 5?

We're gonna have to take out a couple loans to afford Lewan either this year or next. Laughing

Just gonna have to hope that being with his brother gives him some sort of renaissance. Gotta remember that sans-SB50 we made Oher looked better than he had since his rookie season too. Perhaps John Matsko and Ray Brown have some tricks up their sleeves.

Panthers now have eleven former first round picks on the team. Has to be the most in the NFL, right?

Oh my god, why?

Sorry Carolina, but I don't understand this at all. That's just baffling.

Yep!

What a shame because I remember when you guys trading down for Kalil was considered the fleecing of the draft.

Was a great pick his first year in the league. Everything went downhill after that.

Horrible signing at that price.

The guy doesn't have the strength to run block, or the mental focus to be consistent in the passing game.
