Adam Schefter‏ @AdamSchefter
Former Vikings' OT Matt Kalil expected to sign with brother Ryan's Panthers if no snags in final talks, per sources. Kalil brother reunion.

Sounds like we did... and we lost... thank god.

He's had some rough times, but now that he's playing on the same line as his brother, hopefully all Panther fans will finally learn how to spell "Kalil".

Hopefully he can get over his chronic knee injuries. He has had many surgery's and hopes to get them finally to be okay, since college.
Finally was getting close and tore up his hip last year.

didn't want him back. not because we currently have anything better, but because of exactly what VD said.

I hope we take our chances and take a LT with a 2nd round pick now.

I heard it's possible that Michael Oher never returns, so Carolina has their LT for now (and it's cool that he gets to play with his brother). what do they do at RT?

I always laugh at Matt Khalil, or Kalil Mack spellings Laughing

Oher is closer to moving to retirement than anything. He still hasn't passed the concussion protocol.

RT would be Daryl Williams who started most of the season.

I don't think there was a bidding war for Kalil. Probably took less to play with his brother and get a new start on things after a disappointing beginning of his career. We were able to make Michael Oher look better than he had in several seasons so hopefully our staff can get Kalil to improve a bit. In any case, our OT situation is dire so we needed something.

Average at best might even be misleading. He may have had peaks of average play, but he also had some very bad stretches. Injuries played a factor but he's always battled knee issues. It might be chronic. Kalil plays with no fire and doesn't offer much in the run game. Can be streaky in pass protection.

I'm somewhat relieved that he will be leaving MN but there aren't many alternatives.

Guy had an amazing rookie season after being drafted 4th overall, and then just went to poop.

Literally the most disappointing Vikings pick in my 20 years as a fan, just because of how high my expectations were of him after is rookie year, and how bad I wanted him on the team during the draft process. I thought he was going to be our perennial Pro-Bowler for 12 years.

He just seemed to never care about football, or at least the Vikings. Even 2 years after his selection, his (very-active) Twitter had no mention of the Vikings yet still was littered with USC Trojans stuff. Just got the impression he couldn't care less about being on the team or being a pro.

Not surprised he signed with his brother. Seems like that's all he cares about.
