Timmons is rumored to have a scheduled visit with the Dolphins within the first few days of the official FA signing day (today at 4pm). IMO he is likely using us to leverage the Steelers.....but if the Steelers don't resign him before his visit is scheduled then there is a solid chance he becomes a Dolphin.

At 31 years old this is his last shot at a good (not great) pay day. I would put our chances of signing him at 30% right now, but if he makes it to the visit I would say it jumps up to 70%.

I wish we could sign Gerald Hodges, instead.

I seem to recall Timmons losing a step last year, but maybe he was dinged up a bit. Dude is a warrior and plays through everything, possibly to the point of it being a detriment sometimes. He's played in 16 games for 7 seasons straight. That's unheard of for a LB. Even losing a step, Timmons is a clear upgrade as at least a rotational LB. If he didn't cost a ton, he makes a good bit of sense. That vet presence can only help what should be a younger LB corps.

He played a huge amount of snaps last year: 1,145.

Graded out with a 48.4 by PFF.

At 6-1 and 234 lbs, he is built like a MLB or WLB. So it seems that he would replace Jenkins. With his experience, and ability to read plays, he could be an upgrade just on that alone, even if he is a step slower at 31 years old.

I agree. I wouldn't expect him to play at a pro bowl level, but if the price is right I'm sure he would be an upgrade over Jenkins at WLB.
