Per Adam Schefter and Todd Archer.

Quote:
Cowboys are releasing Tony Romo on Thursday, sources tell @toddarcher and me.

Let the Romo recruiting in Houston and Denver begin.

It's a sad day. Crying or Very sad

#Forever9

EDIT: Per Ian Rapoport, we are instead looking to trade Tony to either Houston or Denver.

What is the benefit of releasing him? To save 5 mill that we'll use on Josh mccown anyway?

Yeah we need that $5M for McCown. He's a better back up. Rolling Eyes

I would like it if we signed McCown because he's better than Sanchez or Moore, but we should've played our hand better and waited for some team to suffer a "Teddy Bridgewater" injury.

It just seems wrong that Sam Bradford gets Philly a 1st, and we have to release Tony.

Lol at the fact that our 4th round QB is way better than your 2nd overall QB.

I think Romo has a team he intends to sign with, so we will eat the cap hit for this year and not be a huge player in FA.

It's whatever... sad day, but I'm not upset we couldn't trade him. My guess is he signs with KC or Denver. I don't think he will sign with a team like Washington or Arizona.

Hope he doesn't end up with the Jets and ruins his legacy.

Lol at how Eagles fans always come to our forum while we rarely come to yours. How about you come back here when you get some class (which will be tough for a Eagle fan)

I don't want to see him win a single game. He signed a contract. He has no right to pressure the team into releasing him because he wants to start.

I'm pretty pissed. WHY CAN'T DALLAS EVER GET SOMETHING for their players?! Unbelievable. We let one of our greatest players on defense go (Ware) for nothing and now we watch Romo walk out the door for nothing smfh.

I wouldn't be surprised to watch him win a ring in 1-2 years

It's possible nobody wanted to pony up for him knowing 1) we have Dak and 2) we weren't going to keep that contract

This is a bad take.

Besides, it's pretty clear to me that this was a very mutual release. We wouldn't have done it if we didn't think it could help the Dallas Cowboys.

I knew this day would come eventually. Very sad day for me that Tony Romo will no longer play for us nonetheless.

I figured we would not get much if anything in a trade for an older QB with a significant recent injury history and who hasn't seen extended gametime. So a release is what I expected.

Good luck to Tony wherever he goes (as long as it's not in our way Wink )
