One less pressure per game? I wouldn't say that's significant.

Maybe Rieff is looking for Lt money let's see what his deal us before we concern our selfs to much either way when your paying your starting Lt 3 or 4 mill a year you can afford to invest a little in other spots on the line. We all want playmaker on defense but let's face it Stafford goes down were in trouble.

I like the signing.

1. Reiff is going to get LT money, we were never re-signing him at a discount.

2. Decker is a solid LT but we have trash at RT without signing anyone.

3. We have enough at every other OL spot that we don't need to invest anywhere else there.

4. Wagner was the best RT available.

LT: Taylor Decker
LG: Graham Glasgow/Joe Dahl
C: Travis Swanson/Graham Glasgow
RG: Laken Tomlinson/Joe Dahl
RT: Ricky Wagner

I love it. Didn't think we had a chance to get him. When reports this morning were coming out about Fluker and others I wanted to puke.
This is a great signinh Cool

The money is pretty irrelevant. Contract numbers are always inflated and today's big contract always looks reasonable two years from now.

They got a young guy, well respected, considered a top run blocker and an improving pass blocker, and yet a top 10 pass blocker per PFF

The biggest thing is, Quinn's philosophy continues to be, hit the OL hard and often till we have a great one. That's a good philosophy if you ask me.

That's just pass pro, which isn't known to be Wagner's strong suit. He's thought to be improving in that aspect, but supposedly he's a much better run blocker.

At first, the money seemed super high to me. I think it looks like a really big money deal right now, but in the next year or two, this kind of money won't be particularly high for the position.

I'm reserving judgement either way for the moment.

Let's not forget that Flacco holds the ball much longer than Stafford does. Also, second half (8 games) of the season, Wagner gave up 0 sacks and 0 hits.

In reading through the Ravens comments it appears they thought the exact opposite about him that he was a better pass blocker than run blocker. I think it would be dumb to sign someone who's strength is not pass blocking given how often we throw. I think he is an upgrade at both for us, but how much is the question.

Reiff allowed a dozen more QB pressures than wagner in almost as many pass blocking snaps

Right... which is equivalent to less than one a game.

This is what people aren't realizing. This isn't a signing to upgrade Reiff, this signing is likely an indication that Reiff is going to get a lot more money than what they just gave Wagner.

I think Reiff's going to get money in the same neighborhood, and I rate Wagner more than Reiff, therefore good move.

Looks like Reiff is going to be LT for the Vikings.

I think we upgraded over Reiff for a similar-ish cost and now the Vikings have a rather blah LT. Win Win for us.
