Right now we sit at $3M in cap space. Romo will add between $5 and $14M depending on what we do with him. Lets just assume for this that we are at $8M in space. Here are some moves below - what would you do to create some additional cap room?

Name - Cap Hit - Savings

Dez - $17M - ~$10m in restructure
Lee - $12.5M - ~7M in RST, $9M if cut
Witten - $12.3M - $7.4m if cut
Crawford - $10.4M - $7M if cut
Free - 7.5M - $5m if cut
Thornton - $4.3M - $3m if cut
Hannah - $3m - $2.25m if cut

I think I read somewhere that Hanna's injury was worse than expected. To the point retirement may come into play. Whatever the case, I'm betting his days are done in Dallas.

think Hanna/Alfred/Romo are gone this offseason.

Free/Thornton/Crawford/Witten all gone next season.

I look to extend Free and Witten's contract by 1 year each and spread out their cap hit from this year.

I am not moving any money down the road for Lee, Dez or Crawford. I want keep as is and this tome next year if we need to cut one of them (Crawford) I am less worried about their cap hit. The other two have nagging injuries that would cause me yo hesitate to push money down the road when they are older and more injury prone (see Romo's deal for proof)

I wish the team would swallow their pride and cut Crawford. 10.4 cap hit for an average at best DL, who is okay at every position but great at none. 7M if we cut him? I really don't feel like our DL get's that much worse without him. Mayowa led our team in sacks last year with 6 at RDE, Irving flashed potential at LDE and we still have Lawrence and Tapper, Collins has the 3T and Thornton has the 1. Crawford needs to be cut. It's not really his fault. He hasn't been bad, but with that cap number he has to go.

I think I'd try and rework the contract at least...but if that didn't work, then cut him.

I'd like to see us keep

1. T.McClain (He's vital the DT spot and D-line overall)
2. Mo Claiborne (1 year 3m with some health incentives)
3. JJ Wilcox (Church is going to cost too much. Wilcox isn't great but he's an adequate starter if need be and good depth best case)

4. T.Will (if the price is right and if we can't find someone better like K.Britt for equal money)

CUT/TRADE
1. Romo (duh)
2. RB's (still pissed off we let D.Jackson go smh)
3. B.Buter

If we re-sign the 3 guys I mentioned then we could enter the draft with our only real needs being DE, WR and depth in the secondary.

Yeah. There was zero reason to do that.

If we did cut Crawford then there would be no good reason to not re-sign T.McClain. Him and Collins are a great pair. THornton and Irving offer good depth at that position.

Is there no way we re-sign T.McClain? Imo he was a huge part of the teams success last year. I say cut Crawford and use the savings there to keep McClain and one of Mo/Carr
