I don't think Hoyer gives them a ton of breathing room.

I doubt that Hoyer makes it through 2017 as the starter. This rookie is going to play when the Bears are eliminated.

Glennon might by you a full 16 games, although Brock didn't, but even then I doubt it.

We might not think it...but that doesn't mean to say Pace & Fox don't...as I have said all along I have a real hard time believing Fox wants a rookie QB in a season he has to win.

What they don't want/can't have is 60k no shows to watch Hoyer lose games.

The city was a buzz with Barkley fever, and he is horrendous, a rookie offers some excitement and hope in a bad season.

He may no want a rookie, but when CYA time starts he will need one.

You need far more than a rookie QB to keep a fan base interested...the reason we saw such a drop off in attendance last season was because we hardly had any talent...adding the best players we can keeps us in games more than a rookie QB will.

It is Chicago and the QB position.

Hoyer for 16 games is not going to be good enough for anyone.

I agree more talent will help keep people interested, but it is the QB position that people will demand to see action at.

It is why I am scared they are going to blow serious money on Glennon. He is easier to sell than Hoyer.

Before I paid big money to Glennon I would call the Broncos to see what Trevor Siemien would cost.

And I am fully aware of what Trevor Siemien is.

If the fan appeal of our bridge QB to a rookie eventual heir is of vital importance then I am floored we haven't talked about Josh McCown in that role yet.

I have a feeling we will go Adams at #3, a WR in round 2, and Kaaya/Peterman in round 3.

In a draft that's DEEP at S and CB.

Seriously, [inappropriate/removed] this team.

Looks like we can pack up the conversation.

Glennon seems to be the guy.

Don't count your chickens just yet. We are hearing that Glennon's preferred destination is Chicago. We have heard nothing concrete about the Bears interest in Glennon.

Could all this talk of Glennon to Chicago perhaps be posturing from Glennon and his camp in order to drive up interest?

Pace has been pretty good about not leaking any info about the team's intentions prior to FA/draft his first couple years on the job. I don't see why that would change all of a sudden.

Don't believe anything until you see it made official.

Just read that the rumored glennon contract would be he cheapest in the league for a starter not on a rookie deal.

Good news, guys. This doesn't preclude a qb draft. It is a prelude to it.

This is the kind of logic that should have been applied before the freakout.

If I remember hearing correctly, $14m would be just that. It would put him as the 22nd highest paid qb.

22nd highest paid starting qb isn't "qb of the future" money, it is "high character stopgap" money.

Now we just need to hope the cousins trade doesn't send the #2 to Washington....

THAT is why you ditch Cutler and sign a lesser qb for the same price. We couldn't count on Cutler to be a mentor and good teammate as he is replaced.

Yeah - 7x team captain as voted by his peers is a bad teammate (only year in Chicago he wasn't a team captain was the year Trestman decided they wouldn't have them). Of all the narratives about Jay the bad teammate one has always been the dumbest.

Chicago sports radio for the past six years: "Anybody but Cutler! ANYBODY! Oh but he's tradable for a first round pick."

Chicago sports radio in January: "Cutler makes elite QB money, and that's a problem! Trade him for a late pick!"

Chicago sports radio this past week: "Mike Glennon?! Cutler is better than that guy! AND cheaper! Keep him!"

Tis the birdsong of the common Chicago Fairweather Dolt. Scientific name: Bearsfanicus Moronicus.

It's not worth it, AZ. Just not worth it.
