#Farewell52

Great player. Great person. Couldn't have asked for a better representative for the Minnesota Vikings organization.

Thanks for the memories, Chad. I think he'll find his way into the Ring of Honor.

Good for him. One of the best LBers in Vikings history.

He could definitely have a career in coaching if he wants it.

Good to see him go on his terms. Too bad the Vikes couldn't send him off with a playoff run.

For as much gruff as he's been given for his declining play the last few years, there hasn't been a better representative for this team off the field during his time here.

The way he carries himself off the field is exemplary.

Great guy, great teammate, great representative for the franchise. Hope he continues to have a role with the team.

Now for the selfish part...are there any salary cap ramifications here, or was he already off the books?

He was already a free agent, so no cap impact.

from early February:

Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway has been named captain of “Crew 52,” the Super Bowl host committee comprised of some 10,000 volunteers.

Great player and a lifelong Viking. I remember when he was drafted I was so excited because it was the first real investment into the LB position in many years after sub par play for so long, than he got hurt and missed the entire 2006 season which sucked, then he exploded on the scene in 2007.

Good luck in your post NFL playing days 52

Already off the books. He was set to be a free agent.

I was thinking the same thing.

Aren't there coaching internships he could take on in the NFL? I imagine he'd have no problem finding a spot on this team.
