He's from my hometown. We had two Carrollton guys I went to school with (Jonathan Jones- Patriots and Josh Harris- Falcons) play in the super bowl. Both played at Auburn too.

OK, but is he a UT, NT, or all-purpose DT?

Most like UT. He was a DE but they played him in the trenches a lot and he loved it.

'k thanx. It's always a good thing to provide minimal details on a collegiate prospect for those who don't follow CFootball. ... like their position and details if there are variations; e.g. DL; DE mostly but some UT on passing downs... or S; SS mainly, but interchangeable, or CB; mainly slot.

He's very good against the run. He has very active hands and sheds blocks well. He could maybe gain weight and be a NT. Definitely has a lot of room left on his frame.

If Sidney Jones is available at pick #86, would you take him.

I would be very happy with that draft. Only way that it would be better is if Taylor Moton or Dan Feeney slipped to 48. But Dawkins has a lot of length and a lot of power. He'd be a very good right guard, with the flexibility to play tackle in a pinch.

I would as well. Prolly the only CB selection within our top 3 picks I would be fine with.

To me Dawkins is superior to Feeney. Moton is off the board in this mock. Mixon I feel is off RS board based on history. Sideny Jones is available at 86 and I would take him there. Orlosky is fine. Myrick no need once you get Jones.

48 - Dion Dawkins (OG)
78 - ?
86 - Sindey Jones (CB)
120 - Tyler Orlosky (C)
128 - ?

That would be a great draft.

Why do you think we'd take Sidney Jones then on history the only major injury player I ever remember us drafting was Michael Mauti in round 7.

I think he's as likely to be blackballed on our draft list for his injury as Mixon IMO we aren't the team that takes those players.

Jones will be a gamble for any team. Torn achilles is something that is very difficult to come back thru for a player having to do the motions a DB does. Will be very interested to see his recovery.

Definitely. With Newman coming back this season we can afford to take a risk on this guy and give him the whole year to recover. 3rd round picks are hardly ever a lock to become a starter. So why not take a risk on a 1st round talent?

Also i think its weird that MIN usually ends up using their 3rd as a trade piece. Since 2008 (9 drafts) we have only used our 3rd round pick 4 times. And really the only starters we got out of them have been Danielle Hunter/Jerick McKinnon. So again, why not take the risk on a guy like Jones. Or even Mixon for that matter.

Definitely.

CBSSports analysis:

COMPARES TO: Trae Waynes, Minnesota Vikings: Though he possesses a slimmer build than scouts would prefer, Jones' light feet and loose hips allow him to shadow receivers in coverage. Like Waynes, Jones plays bigger than he measures due to terrific timing on his leaps and wiry strength.
