Damn was just about to make a topic on this one. I'm curious on everything behind it, maybe didn't want to come down in pay or the legal issues are going to be a big problem, but with the way he completely fell off a cliff last year, had to happen.

Good riddance. He phoned it in big time last season. What an awful contract that was.

I stopped caring about Revis the moment he signed with the Pats.

He's been dead to me since his 1st holdout. Peace money chasing clown. Never wanted him back here.

We should all hope that Revis is acquitted from his charges because (1) he's one of the greatest players to play in a Jet uniform; and (2) we want him to sign elsewhere.

He's hired an agent, which may be an indication that he doesn't intend to retire. Anything he were to get on a new contract would offset the amount of money we need to pay him, meaning we would receive a "cap credit" for whatever Revis were to receive. Essentially, he can't double-dip.

Yep that's about it for me too. I loved him early on, but then I just wanted him out of our lives. He could have been remembered as an all time great, but instead he'll just be a guy who had a couple of great seasons and pissed everyone off.

That's great news, I'd have to imagine someone will roll the dice on him. even if it's a smaller deal. $6.5M would be the magic number to clear him completely right?

He could have been Brick, Mangold and Harris but $$$ got the best of him and that's when I was done with him.

I don't think any team will give him that much because they'd rather the Jets pay the bill. Revis will likely have to settle for the minimum from the best team offering or a multi-year deal with less in year one. Either way, probably max we get back is somewhere around $1 million, but a million bucks is a million bucks.

I personally have no problem when players hold out for money, the NFL is brutal and it's absolutely cut throat. I never held that against Revis, I held it against Abraham because he sat out in a playoff game.

Revis was easily the best Jet player I've ever seen, his 2009 season was one of the greatest seasons I've ever seen from any NFL player. Father time has simply caught up with Revis and his release was expected.
