Part of it is that online scouts don't have access to the same resources. Teams get to see players in person, watch the all-22 footage of any game they want, and more importantly they get to actually meet with the player and other individuals that know that player well.

This is very true. When I was at Wisconsin in the mid 90's, just about every week there were scouts in from various NFL teams watching practices and talking with coaches after practice. They would often watch practice tapes and game tape with some of the coaches, get copies of the practice tape/all 22 game tapes.

Those regional scouts know more about a players work ethic, how he handles coaching, how he handles adversity all those "personality" elements that an online scout cant get from some game tape.

He's always been my favorite guy. I own everything he's ever written since 2006 when I started following the draft. I think he has a firm grasp on the fundamentals but doesn't let them overwhelm his evaluations. He does a lot of research and really digs to understand players. He's stubborn and sticks to his guns. He's not someone who says things to get attention. He never did social media, he never did interviews. He is a basement recluse. He just loves it and works hard at it for the final result. He doesn't do it for any other reason. I've always had a deep respect for him. I've watched and listened to a lot of guys over the years. I've always had a connection for how he evaluates and especially like how he does it. When you're done reading his evaluations you can imagine what a player looks like, how he plays, get a feel for maybe how he ticks as a person a little. That's what I like. Where you can imagine the player that you've maybe never even seen before. He paints a picture. I'm the same way.

If there's been anything on FF that deserves a GIF response, it's this lil bit here.

Eric Galko @OptimumScouting
Derrik Klassen @QBKlass
Josh Norris @JoshNorris

The guys who actually watch and study game film vs. regurgitating information from others are usually pretty good.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard an "expert" analyst say something completely off track. For instance, just last week I heard a guy say that Malik McDowell was a great run-stuffer. You then see him getting destroyed while at DT against BYU and Michigan.

Trust your eyes, not another's thoughts...

I don't know all of these guys, but I follow Risdon. He actually goes to events like the combine and has contracts with actual scouts and team personnel, which provides some interesting insight.

Yep, I always liked Mosqueda's Edge/OLB input for any of you that care.
